Certify Your Medical Assistant Credentials Early
Presbyterian Health Services expects CMA or RMA certification from accredited programs. Getting certified through AAMA or AMT before applying removes a common hiring barrier and signals to recruiters that you meet the clinical baseline for sponsored roles.
Target Clinic Locations with Active Openings
Presbyterian operates across Albuquerque and rural New Mexico communities. Filtering specifically by clinic type, such as primary care versus specialty, helps you identify where Medical Assistant demand is highest and where sponsorship decisions get made at the departmental level.
Understand How OPT Fits Your Timeline
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 12-month authorization window sets a hard deadline. Presbyterian has sponsored the transition from OPT to H-1B for clinical support staff, so confirming your OPT end date and communicating it clearly during the offer stage keeps that pathway open.
Confirm the Role Qualifies Under TN Status
Canadian and Mexican nationals sometimes pursue Medical Assistant roles under TN status, but TN requires the position to fit an eligible USMCA profession. Verify with USCIS whether the specific job title and duties Presbyterian lists qualify before assuming TN applies.
Browse Sponsored Medical Assistant Roles on Migrate Mate
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on roles where sponsorship isn't available. Use Migrate Mate to filter directly for Medical Assistant openings at Presbyterian Healthcare Services where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so every application you send is to a position that can actually move forward.
Prepare for the PERM Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways require a DOL PERM labor certification, which typically takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the immigrant petition. If permanent residency is your goal, raise this with the hiring team during negotiations, not after you've started.

Find Medical Assistant at Presbyterian Healthcare Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Presbyterian Healthcare Services sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, Presbyterian Healthcare Services has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles. Because the H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, the role's specific duties and the degree or certification requirements attached to it will factor into eligibility. Confirm the job description aligns with specialty occupation criteria before applying with this pathway in mind.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Presbyterian Healthcare Services?
Applications go through Presbyterian Healthcare Services' careers portal, where you can search by role and location across their New Mexico network. Before applying, review whether the posting explicitly mentions visa sponsorship. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse confirmed Medical Assistant openings at Presbyterian where sponsorship is already verified, which removes the guesswork before you invest time in an application.
Which visa types does Presbyterian Healthcare Services commonly use for Medical Assistant roles?
Presbyterian has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for clinical and support staff. For Medical Assistants, F-1 OPT is often the entry point for recent graduates, while H-1B and EB-3 are more common for longer-term employment. TN may apply to Canadian or Mexican nationals depending on how the role is classified.
What qualifications does Presbyterian Healthcare Services expect for Medical Assistant roles?
Presbyterian typically expects candidates to hold a CMA credential through AAMA or an RMA through AMT, with training from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Familiarity with electronic health records, clinical intake procedures, and phlebotomy is commonly listed in job descriptions. Bilingual Spanish proficiency is a practical advantage given the patient populations Presbyterian serves across New Mexico.
How do I plan my immigration timeline around a Medical Assistant offer at Presbyterian?
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT to H-1B, USCIS H-1B cap registration opens in March for an October 1 start date, so your OPT authorization must cover the gap. For EB-3 green card sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process at DOL typically runs 12 to 18 months before USCIS filing begins. Raising your timeline with Presbyterian's HR team early in the offer process avoids last-minute complications.
