Align your credentials with disaster recovery standards
CORE's Construction roles support emergency and humanitarian projects, so certifications like OSHA 30, PMP, or FEMA training carry real weight. Have documented proof of field experience in post-disaster or infrastructure environments ready before you apply.
Target roles that match your visa classification
CORE sponsors TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Construction occupations like Engineer. Confirm your job title maps to an eligible TN category before pursuing that path, since mismatches cause filing delays.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Construction roles at CORE
CORE regularly posts Construction openings across multiple deployment sites. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for CORE positions that match your visa type, so you're only spending time on roles the company is actively hiring and sponsoring.
Clarify OPT authorization timing with your DSO early
If you're on F-1 OPT, your Designated School Official must authorize STEM OPT extensions before your initial OPT expires. Construction-related engineering roles can qualify for STEM extension, but the paperwork takes time, so start that process before you receive an offer.
Prepare for a project-based hiring timeline
CORE's Construction hiring often tracks with active disaster response cycles, meaning roles open quickly and close fast. Monitor new job postings closely and have your resume, references, and visa documentation ready to submit without delay.
Understand USCIS H-1B cap timing relative to your offer
If your Construction role at CORE requires H-1B sponsorship, confirm whether the position qualifies as cap-exempt given CORE's nonprofit status. Cap-exempt filings can be submitted any time of year, bypassing the April lottery and its six-month wait for October 1 employment start dates.

Find Construction at CORE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CORE sponsor H-1B visas for Constructions?
Yes, CORE has sponsored H-1B visas for Construction roles. As a nonprofit organization focused on disaster relief, CORE may qualify as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, which means petitions can be filed year-round rather than being subject to the annual lottery. Confirm cap-exempt eligibility with the hiring team during the offer stage, since it affects your start date significantly.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at CORE?
Apply directly through CORE's careers page, and tailor your resume to reflect experience in humanitarian, emergency, or large-scale infrastructure construction. Mention your visa status clearly in your application or cover letter so recruiters can flag the role for sponsorship review early. You can also browse current CORE Construction openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate before applying.
Which visa types does CORE commonly use for Construction roles?
CORE has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Construction professionals in specialty occupation roles, particularly engineering-focused positions. F-1 OPT and CPT holders in Construction-adjacent STEM fields can also work at CORE during their authorized period. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying construction-related occupations defined by the USMCA agreement.
What qualifications does CORE look for in Construction candidates?
CORE typically prioritizes candidates with field experience in disaster recovery, infrastructure rehabilitation, or community construction projects. A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline strengthens both your candidacy and your H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Safety certifications like OSHA 30 and familiarity with FEMA project management frameworks are frequently cited in CORE job postings.
How do I handle the visa sponsorship timeline when accepting a Construction offer from CORE?
Get clarity on your visa pathway at the offer stage, not after you sign. If CORE files an H-1B petition on your behalf and qualifies as cap-exempt, there's no fixed start date tied to October 1, which reduces timeline pressure. If you're on OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period covers your projected start date, and initiate any STEM extension request with your DSO immediately after the offer is confirmed.
