- Code Quality and Technical Leadership: Lead code reviews, provide actionable feedback, and establish best practices that improve maintainability and scalability.
- Performance and Reliability: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, memory constraints, and platform-specific limitations across connected devices.
- Mentorship and Team Growth: Support and mentor engineers, helping raise the technical bar and fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration.
- Documentation and Enablement: Create clear technical documentation and guidance to enable adoption of shared systems across teams.
In the role of Senior Engineer, you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, LRX.

Align your portfolio with streaming infrastructure
Crunchyroll's engineering teams focus on video delivery, content recommendation systems, and high-traffic platform scaling. Showcase projects involving distributed systems, CDN optimization, or backend APIs to signal direct relevance before your application lands.
Time your OPT application to match hiring cycles
Crunchyroll recruits heavily in the first and third quarters. File your F-1 OPT application with your DSO at least 90 days before your program end date to ensure your EAD arrives before you need to start.
Ask specifically about H-1B cap-exempt scenarios
If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, Crunchyroll can file a cap-exempt petition any time of year. Clarify this with your recruiter early so the timeline discussion reflects your actual situation, not the standard lottery calendar.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Software Engineer roles at Crunchyroll
Sponsorship-confirmed Software Engineer listings at media companies are scattered across general job boards. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers in entertainment and tech, so you can target Crunchyroll roles without manually screening dozens of postings.
Prepare for technical rounds focused on real-time systems
Crunchyroll's interview process for Software Engineers typically includes system design questions around live and on-demand video streaming at scale. Review concepts like load balancing, latency optimization, and fault-tolerant architecture before your technical screen.

Find Software Engineer at Crunchyroll JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Crunchyroll sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Crunchyroll sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineers. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual lottery administered by USCIS, sponsorship doesn't guarantee selection. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Crunchyroll can file a cap-exempt transfer petition at any point in the year, which is a faster and more predictable path.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Crunchyroll?
Applications go through Crunchyroll's careers page, where Software Engineer roles are listed by team and seniority. To find only the positions that confirm visa sponsorship upfront, browse Crunchyroll's listings on Migrate Mate, which filters for sponsoring employers so you're not spending time on roles that will later disqualify you on immigration grounds.
Which visa types does Crunchyroll sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
Crunchyroll sponsors multiple visa types for Software Engineers, including the H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT. The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and offers a faster path with no lottery. The TN covers Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT apply to current international students and recent graduates.
What qualifications does Crunchyroll look for in Software Engineer candidates?
Crunchyroll's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B sponsorship. Practically, the teams prioritize experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and backend or full-stack development, particularly in high-traffic consumer-facing applications in the media and entertainment space.
How do I time the visa sponsorship process when joining Crunchyroll as a Software Engineer?
Timeline depends heavily on which visa applies to you. H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so offers ideally come by February or March. F-1 OPT requires your EAD to be in hand before day one, so file at least 90 days before your intended start. For cap-exempt H-1B transfers or E-3 applications, USCIS processing runs roughly three to five months without premium processing.
