Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Relationship Managers requires demonstrating the role demands a specific bachelor's degree, typically in finance, economics, or accounting. Frame your degree and experience around credit analysis and commercial lending, not general business, to meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
Target East West Bank's community banking focus
East West Bank actively hires Relationship Managers who can serve Chinese-speaking business clients. If you have Mandarin or Cantonese fluency alongside commercial lending experience, lead with both in your application. This directly aligns with the bank's core market and strengthens your candidacy.
Search current openings through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Relationship Manager openings at East West Bank by visa type. You can identify which roles have active sponsorship history, saving time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to positions without confirmed sponsorship pathways.
Prepare your LCA documentation early in negotiations
East West Bank must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirm with HR that the offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your work location, since Relationship Manager pay varies significantly between branches in California versus other states.
Understand F-1 OPT timing relative to the H-1B cap
If you're on F-1 OPT and start at East West Bank before April 1, confirm whether your OPT end date gives you enough runway. STEM OPT extensions of 24 months apply only to qualifying STEM degrees, and finance degrees from programs not on the STEM list do not qualify.
Request clarity on cap-exempt versus cap-subject filing
East West Bank is a for-profit employer, so H-1B petitions are cap-subject and subject to the annual lottery. If you receive an offer, ask HR whether they plan to file in the April lottery cycle and whether premium processing, which cuts USCIS review to 15 business days, is part of their standard process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does East West Bank sponsor H-1B visas for Relationship Managers?
Yes, East West Bank sponsors H-1B visas for Relationship Managers. As a for-profit employer, their H-1B petitions are cap-subject and go through the annual USCIS lottery. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation under H-1B standards when the position requires a degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a directly related field.
Which visa types does East West Bank commonly sponsor for Relationship Manager roles?
East West Bank sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Relationship Managers, along with EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways for longer-term hires. The bank also accommodates candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT during early career stages, and TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in financial services roles.
What qualifications does East West Bank expect for Relationship Manager candidates seeking sponsorship?
East West Bank typically looks for a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business, combined with demonstrated commercial lending or portfolio management experience. Candidates with Mandarin or Cantonese language skills have a distinct advantage given the bank's focus on serving Asian-American business communities. Prior credit analysis experience strengthens both your application and your H-1B specialty occupation argument.
How do I apply for Relationship Manager jobs at East West Bank?
You can browse open Relationship Manager positions at East West Bank through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship history so you can confirm sponsorship is available before applying. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight commercial lending, client relationship management, and any relevant language skills. Follow up with the bank's HR team early to confirm sponsorship timelines relative to your current visa status.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship from East West Bank?
H-1B registrations open in March each year, with lottery selection in late March and petition filing beginning April 1. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need your OPT authorization to cover you until at least October 1, when approved H-1B status takes effect. Start conversations with East West Bank's HR team by January at the latest to ensure all documentation, including the DOL Labor Condition Application, is ready before the registration window opens.
