Align your portfolio to industrial software domains
Eaton's Software Engineer roles frequently touch embedded systems, SCADA platforms, and IIoT applications. Highlighting projects in industrial controls, firmware, or power systems software signals direct relevance and reduces employer hesitation around sponsorship investment.
Target Eaton divisions with active software buildouts
Eaton's Electrical Sector and eMobility division are expanding their software engineering headcount fastest. Applying to roles within these business units improves your chances of landing on a team already familiar with sponsoring international engineers.
Understand how PERM fits your long-term path at Eaton
Eaton sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require PERM labor certification through DOL. For Software Engineers, the PERM job description must precisely match your duties, so review the posted role requirements carefully before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Engineer openings at Eaton
Sorting through Eaton's full job board manually won't surface sponsorship-specific roles. Migrate Mate filters directly for positions where sponsorship is available, letting you focus your applications on Software Engineer openings that match your visa situation.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap timelines
Cap-subject H-1B petitions can only take effect on October 1. If you receive an offer after the April lottery, your earliest lawful start date is the following October 1, so align your offer letter and notice period with USCIS's fiscal year schedule.

Find Software Engineer at Eaton JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eaton sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes. Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles and has a consistent track record doing so across its manufacturing and electrical product divisions. The company works with immigration counsel to file petitions, and sponsorship eligibility is typically addressed during the offer stage. Cap-subject candidates should confirm timing relative to the annual April lottery window.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Eaton?
You can apply directly through Eaton's careers site or use Migrate Mate to browse Software Engineer openings at Eaton that are filtered for visa sponsorship availability. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific business unit, whether that's electrical systems, eMobility, or enterprise IT, since hiring teams evaluate domain fit alongside technical skills.
Which visa types does Eaton typically use for Software Engineers?
Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation Software Engineer roles, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active academic programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories for longer-term permanent residence pathways. The right visa depends on your citizenship, degree, and stage in the hiring process.
What qualifications does Eaton expect for sponsored Software Engineer roles?
Most Eaton Software Engineer postings require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B approval. Roles in embedded systems or power management often expect experience with C, C++, or Python alongside familiarity with industrial protocols like Modbus or CANbus.
How do I manage timing between an Eaton offer and my visa filing?
If you're cap-subject, your H-1B can only become effective October 1, so an offer made in spring or summer will carry a deferred start. For OPT holders, confirm your EAD expiration date before signing, since Eaton will need enough lead time to file before authorization lapses. USCIS premium processing, currently available for H-1B petitions, can reduce adjudication time to roughly 15 business days if timing is tight.
