Align Your Credentials to Power Systems Work
Electric Power Engineers focuses on transmission, distribution, and interconnection studies. Tailor your resume to highlight power flow analysis, protection coordination, or grid modeling experience before applying, since generalist electrical engineering backgrounds get screened out early.
Verify Your OPT Timeline Before Applying
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Confirm your program CIP code aligns with electrical engineering before accepting an offer, so your authorized period covers the H-1B cap filing window.
Target Roles Tied to Federal Energy Projects
Consulting firms like Electric Power Engineers win long-term federal utility contracts that justify multi-year sponsorship commitments. When applying, prioritize openings tied to transmission planning or interconnection queues, where project continuity makes employers more willing to file and maintain H-1B petitions.
Understand How PERM Fits Your Timeline
Electric Power Engineers sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require DOL PERM labor certification before USCIS filing. Recruitment for PERM must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers were available, so start the conversation with your hiring manager well before your H-1B renewals run short.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Electrical Engineer Roles
Searching broadly across job boards buries sponsorship-friendly openings. Use Migrate Mate to filter directly for Electrical Engineer positions at Electric Power Engineers where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you apply to roles where the filing infrastructure is already in place.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
Before signing, confirm in writing whether the company will cover H-1B attorney fees, premium processing, and future Green Card filings. Consulting firms structure sponsorship differently across practice groups, and assumptions about what is included have delayed or derailed international hires at the offer stage.

Find Electrical Engineer at Electric Power Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Electric Power Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineer roles. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions for engineering positions, which is consistent with the specialized, degree-required nature of power systems consulting work. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, the company can bridge your status through the annual H-1B cap filing cycle each April.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Electric Power Engineers?
Applications go through the Electric Power Engineers careers portal directly. To find open Electrical Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship availability, use Migrate Mate, which tracks live openings at Electric Power Engineers and flags sponsorship-eligible positions. Tailor your application to the specific practice area, whether transmission planning, interconnection engineering, or distribution studies, rather than submitting a generic resume.
Which visa types does Electric Power Engineers commonly use for Electrical Engineers?
Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For permanent residence, the company files EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the DOL PERM process. TN visas are a faster option for Canadian nationals since they require no USCIS petition and can be obtained at the border with an offer letter and supporting documents.
What qualifications does Electric Power Engineers expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Most Electrical Engineer roles require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, which also satisfies the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Practical experience with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or similar modeling tools is commonly listed in job descriptions. Senior roles may require professional engineering licensure or a master's degree, particularly for transmission planning or protection engineering positions.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship?
The H-1B cap filing window opens April 1 each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT expiring before October, confirm your employer will file with premium processing, which reduces USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days. Starting your job search by January gives enough runway to complete hiring, receive an offer, and allow your employer to meet the April registration deadline.
