Align your credentials to utility consulting standards
Electric Power Engineers hires for grid studies, load flow analysis, and interconnection work. Frame your resume around power systems software like PSS/E or PSCAD and any relevant PE licensure, since consulting firms weigh applied technical credentials heavily over general engineering experience.
Verify your degree field matches specialty occupation requirements
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relate to the Project Engineer role. Electrical engineering or power systems degrees are the clearest fit. A degree in a loosely related field can trigger an RFE, so address the connection explicitly in your application materials.
Target open Project Engineer roles through Migrate Mate
Electric Power Engineers regularly lists Project Engineer openings across multiple practice areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at this company that align with your visa type, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship pathways are already confirmed rather than guessing.
Understand how TN status fits consulting project work
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN status can support a Project Engineer role without the H-1B lottery. The role must qualify as an Engineer under TN rules, so confirm the job description references engineering tasks explicitly before relying on this pathway.
Clarify OPT or CPT timing before your start date
Electric Power Engineers sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, but consulting firms often have project-driven start dates that don't flex easily. Confirm your OPT authorization end date against the expected onboarding timeline so there's no gap when your engagement begins.
Ask specifically about PERM and Green Card timelines during offer negotiation
If long-term sponsorship matters to you, ask during the offer stage whether the Project Engineer role is eligible for EB-2 or EB-3 PERM sponsorship and at what tenure point the company typically initiates the process. Waiting until after you join to raise this creates unnecessary uncertainty.

Find Project Engineer at Electric Power Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Electric Power Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. If you're currently on OPT and need an H-1B cap-subject petition, confirm with the recruiter that the company participates in the annual April registration window.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Electric Power Engineers?
You can browse open Project Engineer positions at Electric Power Engineers directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is available. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific practice area, whether that's transmission planning, interconnection studies, or distribution engineering, and be upfront about your visa type and work authorization timeline so the hiring team can plan accordingly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Engineer roles at Electric Power Engineers?
Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for Project Engineer roles. The right pathway depends on your citizenship and current status. Canadian and Mexican nationals often use TN as a faster alternative to H-1B, while recent graduates commonly start on OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does Electric Power Engineers expect for Project Engineer candidates?
Electric Power Engineers typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or power systems engineering. Familiarity with transmission planning software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, or PSCAD is valued across most Project Engineer roles. Some positions also expect exposure to NERC reliability standards, FERC interconnection processes, or utility protection systems, depending on the practice area you're targeting.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Project Engineer at Electric Power Engineers?
Timeline depends on which visa type applies. TN and OPT transfers can move quickly, sometimes within weeks. H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery, which means your earliest possible start date would be October 1 of the fiscal year following selection. H-1B premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication time to roughly 15 business days once the petition is filed, which consulting employers sometimes use when project timelines require faster certainty.
