Align your degree to Eaton's specialty occupations
Eaton's Project Engineer roles typically require a degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering. Before applying, verify your credentials map directly to the role's field, since H-1B approval depends on a qualifying specialty occupation match.
Target divisions with active hiring pipelines
Eaton hires Project Engineers across electrical, hydraulics, and aerospace segments. Focus your search on divisions posting multiple openings, as those teams are more likely to have established sponsorship workflows and hiring managers familiar with visa timelines.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles by visa type
Filtering by visa type before you apply saves time and avoids dead ends. Migrate Mate lets you browse Eaton's Project Engineer openings specifically tagged for sponsorship-eligible candidates, so you're targeting roles with a real pathway forward.
Raise sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
Eaton's talent acquisition team handles engineering sponsorship regularly. Bring up your visa status in the first recruiter screen rather than after an offer, so the hiring team can loop in immigration counsel and plan the LCA filing timeline accurately.
Understand OPT cap-gap exposure before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and Eaton files your H-1B for October 1, your cap-gap protection depends on USCIS receiving your petition before your OPT expires. Confirm your OPT end date against the filing window so you don't inadvertently lose work authorization.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history document
For Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, Eaton will need to run PERM labor certification through DOL. Compile a detailed record of prior job duties, titles, and dates now, since gaps or inconsistencies in your employment history can slow the process.

Find Project Engineer at Eaton JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eaton sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific engineering discipline. Eaton's size and established HR infrastructure mean the company has experience managing H-1B petitions, including Labor Condition Application filings with DOL, across multiple engineering divisions.
Which visa types does Eaton commonly use for Project Engineer roles?
Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for most international Project Engineers, with Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 available for longer-term employment. F-1 OPT and CPT holders can join in early-career or internship roles, and Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations may be eligible for TN status, which doesn't require an employer petition filed with USCIS.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Eaton?
You can find and filter Eaton's open Project Engineer roles on Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not applying blind. Applications go through Eaton's careers portal, where you'll submit a resume and complete an online profile. Engineering roles often move through a recruiter screen, a technical interview, and a hiring manager conversation before an offer is extended.
What qualifications does Eaton expect for Project Engineer candidates?
Eaton typically expects a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering for Project Engineer roles, with some positions requiring relevant internship or co-op experience. Roles in power management or electrical systems often favor candidates with coursework or hands-on exposure to circuit design, product lifecycle processes, or industrial controls. A master's degree can strengthen an EB-2 Green Card case if Eaton pursues that pathway for you.
How do I plan my timeline if Eaton sponsors my H-1B as a Project Engineer?
H-1B employment for cap-subject candidates starts no earlier than October 1, so USCIS must receive your petition during the March filing window. If you're graduating in spring, plan for a gap between your OPT work authorization and your H-1B start date. Eaton's legal team will file the Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the I-129 petition, so expect the process to begin at least a few months before the April registration window opens.
