Align your degree to semiconductor process engineering
Micron's Project Engineer roles typically require a degree in electrical engineering, materials science, or chemical engineering. Make sure your transcripts and resume clearly reflect coursework in process integration, yield analysis, or device physics before you apply.
Target Micron's fab sites in your applications
Micron's U.S. Project Engineer openings are concentrated at its fabrication facilities in Boise, Idaho, and Manassas, Virginia. Applying directly to site-specific postings, rather than generic corporate roles, puts you in front of the hiring teams who actually control headcount.
Prepare documentation that supports a specialty occupation claim
USCIS evaluates whether a Project Engineer role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Pull together official transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your credential is foreign, and a detailed job description from Micron that ties specific duties to your field of study.
Understand how Micron structures multi-visa pathways
Micron sponsors both H-1B and H-1B1 visas, and often initiates PERM-based Green Card filings for long-term engineering hires. Confirm with your recruiter early whether the role is budgeted for employer-sponsored permanent residency, not just an initial nonimmigrant status.
Browse Micron openings on Migrate Mate to filter by sponsorship
Use Migrate Mate to search Project Engineer postings at Micron filtered specifically by visa type. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship is uncertain and lets you focus your preparation on confirmed sponsor positions.

Find Project Engineer at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. The company has a consistent history of petitioning for engineering talent at its U.S. fabrication sites. Because Project Engineer positions require specialized knowledge in semiconductor manufacturing, they typically satisfy the USCIS specialty occupation standard that H-1B petitions must meet.
Which visa types does Micron Technology commonly use for Project Engineers?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Project Engineers, with H-1B being the most common path for candidates outside treaty-country eligibility. For longer-term hires, Micron also pursues employer-sponsored Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories via the PERM labor certification process filed with the DOL.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for Project Engineer roles?
Most Project Engineer postings at Micron require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with semiconductor process integration, yield improvement, or equipment qualification is valued. Candidates with fab experience, even from internships, tend to move faster through Micron's screening process than those with only academic backgrounds.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Micron Technology?
Applications go through Micron's careers portal, where you can filter by job family and location. To find roles confirmed for visa sponsorship, browse Migrate Mate's listings for Micron Project Engineer positions. Tailor your resume to reflect process engineering experience and degree alignment with the specific role, since Micron's recruiting team screens for technical fit before moving candidates to phone screens.
How do I manage the timeline between a Micron offer and my visa start date?
If you're on OPT or STEM OPT, you can start work at Micron while your H-1B petition is pending, provided your employer files before your OPT expires and your I-983 training plan is in place. Micron typically initiates H-1B filings ahead of the April 1 filing window. Confirm the exact timing with your recruiter as soon as you have an offer, since the gap between offer acceptance and an October 1 H-1B start date requires active status management.
