Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Controls Technician Jobs at Micron Technology Jobs
Certify Your PLC and SCADA Credentials Early
Micron's fabs rely heavily on Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware platforms. Having documented certifications in these systems before you apply signals job-ready competency and removes a common barrier for sponsorship approval on technical roles.
Target Micron's Fab Locations Strategically
Micron hires Controls Technicians across Boise, Manassas, and its newer Idaho expansion sites. Postings tied to active fab buildouts tend to have stronger urgency to fill, which correlates with employer willingness to move quickly on sponsorship paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Visa Type
Micron sponsors across multiple visa categories for this function. Migrate Mate lets you filter Controls Technician openings at Micron by sponsorship type so you're only applying to roles where your specific visa situation is already supported.
Align Your Resume to Cleanly Support an H-1B Specialty Occupation Filing
USCIS requires Controls Technician roles to meet specialty occupation standards. Frame your resume around degree-level electrical or mechatronics engineering knowledge, not just hands-on tasks, so the employer's H-1B petition reflects a defensible occupational match.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting an Offer
Micron has sponsored both temporary work visas and permanent residence pathways for controls staff. Before signing, confirm in writing whether the offer covers H-1B filing only, or whether PERM-based Green Card sponsorship is also part of the employment package.
Track DOL Prevailing Wage Levels for Your Specific Site
Prevailing wage determinations under DOL vary by metropolitan area. A Controls Technician offer at Micron's Boise facility will be benchmarked differently than one in Manassas. Verify your offered wage meets at least Level I prevailing wage to avoid LCA complications during filing.

Find Controls Technician at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Controls Technicians?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Controls Technician roles. Micron is an active participant in the H-1B program and files petitions for technical manufacturing positions on a consistent basis. Controls Technicians with backgrounds in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or industrial automation are among the technical functions Micron has historically supported through H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Controls Technician jobs at Micron Technology?
Applications go through Micron's careers portal, where Controls Technician openings are listed by site and shift requirements. Before applying, confirm the posting lists visa sponsorship as available. Migrate Mate aggregates Micron's open Controls Technician roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility, so you can identify the right postings before going directly to Micron's application system.
Which visa types does Micron Technology commonly use for Controls Technician roles?
Micron sponsors Controls Technicians under H-1B for temporary work authorization, and supports employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term employees. The H-1B1 is also available to nationals of Singapore and Chile. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and where you are in your career with the company.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for sponsored Controls Technician positions?
Micron typically expects an associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field, paired with hands-on experience in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environments. For H-1B sponsorship specifically, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, so a degree in a directly related technical discipline strengthens both your application and the petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Controls Technician role at Micron?
For H-1B, Micron must file during the annual cap period each April, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest under regular processing. Premium processing through USCIS can return a decision in 15 business days. If you're pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification phase alone typically takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition stage begins.
