Align your portfolio to semiconductor data problems
Micron's data science work centers on yield analysis, defect prediction, and fab process optimization. Projects or published work involving time-series sensor data, anomaly detection, or manufacturing quality models will resonate far more than general ML portfolios.
Verify your credentials meet specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. For Micron's engineering-heavy data science roles, degrees in computer science, statistics, or electrical engineering carry the strongest precedent with USCIS adjudicators reviewing specialty occupation evidence.
Target Micron's Boise and Manassas sites strategically
Micron's data science hiring concentrates around its U.S. fabrication and R&D locations. Filtering your search by these sites narrows the field to roles where sponsorship infrastructure is most established and hiring managers are familiar with the visa petition process.
Clarify sponsorship scope during recruiter screening
Ask the recruiter directly whether the role supports H-1B transfer, new H-1B filing, or both. Micron's large-employer status means cap-exempt H-1B transfers are possible mid-year, which matters if you're already on a valid H-1B with another employer.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Data Science Engineer roles
Filter by Micron Technology on Migrate Mate to find current Data Science Engineer openings verified for visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than inferred from a generic job listing.
Prepare for PERM documentation early if pursuing permanent residence
Micron sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for qualifying roles. The DOL PERM labor certification process can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed, so clarifying the employer's permanent residence policy before you accept an offer affects your long-term planning significantly.

Find Data Science Engineer at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Data Science Engineers?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Data Science Engineer roles. As a large U.S. employer in the semiconductor industry, Micron has an established immigration program and regularly files H-1B petitions for technical roles. If you're on an existing H-1B, Micron can file an H-1B transfer so you can start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for a new cap-subject lottery slot.
How do I apply for Data Science Engineer jobs at Micron Technology?
Applications go through Micron's careers portal at micron.com/careers. Search for Data Science Engineer roles filtered by U.S. locations. Tailor your resume to Micron's core technical areas, specifically semiconductor process data, predictive analytics, and AI-driven manufacturing intelligence. You can also browse verified Micron openings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles confirmed for visa sponsorship so you avoid applying to positions where sponsorship isn't available.
Which visa types does Micron Technology commonly use for Data Science Engineers?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Data Science Engineer roles, covering both cap-subject new filings and transfers from other employers. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Micron also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM labor certification process. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and career stage, and Micron's immigration team typically advises on the appropriate pathway after an offer is extended.
What qualifications does Micron look for in Data Science Engineer candidates?
Micron typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or electrical engineering for Data Science Engineer roles. Practical experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks is standard. What differentiates candidates in the semiconductor context is familiarity with manufacturing data environments, including high-volume sensor streams, yield datasets, and process control systems. Advanced degrees improve both hiring competitiveness and USCIS specialty occupation assessments.
What is the typical timeline from offer to starting work on an H-1B at Micron?
If you're transferring an existing H-1B, you can start at Micron once USCIS receives the petition, typically within a few weeks of Micron filing. For new H-1B cap-subject filings, you'd need to enter the April lottery with an October 1 start date, meaning the gap between offer and start date can exceed six months. USCIS premium processing reduces the approval wait to 15 business days, and Micron commonly uses it for technical hires.
