Align your credentials to financial data domains
JPMorganChase prioritizes Data Science Engineers with experience in risk modeling, fraud detection, or quantitative finance. Frame your resume and portfolio around financial datasets, time-series analysis, or regulatory reporting projects before you apply.
Target roles in tech hubs with LCA filings
JPMorganChase's data science engineering roles are concentrated in New York and Delaware. DOL Labor Condition Applications are filed by work location, so applying to postings in these cities gives you the clearest picture of prevailing wage levels for your offer negotiation.
Clarify your visa category during the offer stage
JPMorganChase sponsors multiple visa types for this function. If you hold Australian citizenship, ask specifically about E-3 processing, since it moves faster than H-1B and isn't subject to the annual lottery. Clarify which pathway HR intends to file before you resign from your current role.
Confirm your H-1B cap status before registering
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship and have previously held cap-exempt status at a university or nonprofit research institution, confirm with USCIS whether you remain cap-exempt. JPMorganChase is a cap-subject employer, so lottery selection affects your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
JPMorganChase posts Data Science Engineer roles across multiple internal business lines, which makes it hard to track sponsorship-eligible openings manually. Migrate Mate filters verified sponsoring employers by role and visa type, so you can find the right posting faster.
Prepare for a multi-round technical process specific to finance
JPMorganChase's Data Science Engineer interviews typically include a take-home modeling case and system design rounds focused on real-time data pipelines or ML platform infrastructure. Preparing finance-specific examples, rather than general ML use cases, meaningfully improves your odds of advancing.

Find Data Science Engineer at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Data Science Engineers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Data Science Engineers and has done so consistently across its technology and analytics divisions. Because JPMorganChase is a cap-subject employer, H-1B sponsorship is tied to USCIS's annual lottery registration window, which typically opens in March. If you're selected, your start date will be October 1 of that fiscal year at the earliest.
How do I apply for Data Science Engineer jobs at JPMorganChase?
Applications go through JPMorganChase's careers portal at jpmorganchase.com. Roles are listed under both JPMorgan and Chase branding, so search both. You can also browse verified, sponsorship-confirmed Data Science Engineer openings at JPMorganChase on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa-sponsored candidates and updates regularly as new postings go live.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Data Science Engineers?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Data Science Engineers, along with employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. H-1B is most common for nationals from countries without a dedicated treaty visa. Australian citizens can request E-3 sponsorship, which bypasses the lottery entirely and allows for faster processing through a U.S. consulate.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Data Science Engineer roles?
Most postings require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field. Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or scikit-learn is expected. Roles that sit within trading, risk, or compliance functions often require familiarity with financial data structures, regulatory constraints, or real-time systems at scale.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to work authorization at JPMorganChase?
Timeline depends on your visa type. E-3 and H-1B1 petitions can be consular-processed in weeks once your employer files the Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Standard H-1B approval through USCIS takes three to five months without premium processing. JPMorganChase's immigration team typically manages the LCA and petition filings internally, but confirm who handles each step during the offer negotiation so you're not caught off guard by processing delays.
