Tailor your resume to Eaton's engineering stack
Eaton's Electrical Systems Engineer roles frequently involve power distribution, protection relay coordination, and NEC or IEC standards compliance. Highlighting hands-on experience with these systems signals you can contribute from day one, not after a long ramp-up.
Target divisions with consistent sponsorship history
Eaton's Electrical Sector and eMobility divisions post Electrical Systems Engineer openings more consistently than others. Filtering your search by business unit, not just job title, puts you in front of hiring managers who regularly work with sponsored candidates.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT each have different employer filing requirements and timelines. Before an offer is extended, confirm which category Eaton's immigration team is planning to file under so there are no surprises around start dates or cap deadlines.
Align your degree field to the role's specialty occupation requirement
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to establish specialty occupation status. For Electrical Systems Engineer roles, a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field strengthens this argument. A degree in a tangentially related discipline can complicate the petition and delay approval.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Electrical Systems Engineer roles at Eaton
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can surface Eaton's Electrical Systems Engineer openings that are open to H-1B, TN, or OPT candidates without manually screening every posting.
Track your OPT authorization dates against Eaton's hiring cycle
F-1 OPT gives you a 60-day grace period if employment ends, but STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be E-Verify enrolled before the extension is approved. Confirm Eaton's E-Verify status and your STEM OPT extension timeline before accepting an offer.

Find Electrical Systems Engineer at Eaton JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eaton sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers?
Yes, Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers. The company has an immigration support structure that handles H-1B petitions through an in-house or retained legal team. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application and securing an offer well before the April filing window matters significantly for your start date.
How do I apply for Electrical Systems Engineer jobs at Eaton?
Applications go through Eaton's careers portal, where you can filter by job function and location. Roles are also listed on Migrate Mate, which lets you filter specifically for positions open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your application to the specific division, such as Electrical Sector or eMobility, and highlight relevant technical experience with power systems, protection coordination, or distribution design.
Which visa types does Eaton commonly use for Electrical Systems Engineer roles?
Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for most Electrical Systems Engineer hires from abroad, and also supports F-1 OPT and STEM OPT for recent graduates. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degree and role meet NAFTA/USMCA engineering criteria. For longer-term employees, Eaton has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Eaton expect for Electrical Systems Engineer roles?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Depending on the role level, Eaton looks for experience with power distribution systems, protection relay design, NEC or IEC compliance, and CAD or simulation tools like ETAP or AutoCAD Electrical. Senior roles typically require several years of relevant industry experience, often within manufacturing, utilities, or industrial power environments.
How long does the sponsorship process take for an Electrical Systems Engineer at Eaton?
For H-1B petitions, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months after the April filing window, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing reduces adjudication to 15 business days. TN visas for Canadians can be obtained at a port of entry in a single day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes one to three years before an immigrant visa becomes available, depending on your country of birth.
