Align Your Credentials to PE Licensing Expectations
Electric Power Engineers operates in a consulting environment where a Professional Engineer license or active EIT status carries real weight. Before applying, confirm your foreign engineering credentials are evaluated by a NACES-approved body so your degree translates cleanly for licensing boards.
Target Grid Modernization and Renewable Interconnection Roles
EPE's project pipeline leans heavily on transmission planning, DER integration, and utility interconnection studies. Framing your resume around PSCAD, PSS/E, or PowerWorld experience positions you for the specific Electrical Project Engineer openings they fill most actively.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Sponsorship Type
Not every EPE posting explicitly lists visa support. Use Migrate Mate to filter Electrical Project Engineer openings at Electric Power Engineers by the visa categories you need, so you're only spending time on roles where your authorization path is already confirmed.
Understand the TN Visa Path for Canadian and Mexican Engineers
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, EPE's sponsorship of TN status means you can avoid the H-1B lottery entirely. The TN category covers engineers, and EPE's consulting work typically satisfies the DOL's requirement for a qualifying engineering role.
Time Your Application Around OPT Cap-Gap Strategically
If you're finishing an F-1 program, confirm your OPT end date before your first EPE interview. If your OPT expires before an H-1B approval, you'll need cap-gap protection, which only kicks in if your employer files a timely petition before April 1 of the lottery year.
Ask Directly About PERM Timelines During Offer Negotiation
EPE sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, but PERM labor certification currently takes 12 to 18 months at DOL before an I-140 can be filed. Raise this in the offer stage so both sides understand the long-term sponsorship sequence and your employment start doesn't get misaligned.

Find Electrical Project Engineer at Electric Power Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Electric Power Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Project Engineers?
Yes, Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Project Engineer roles. The company operates in consulting and professional services, and the work consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, given the degree requirements in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Sponsorship availability can vary by project need, so confirm authorization support directly during the interview process.
How do I apply for Electrical Project Engineer jobs at Electric Power Engineers?
You can browse current Electrical Project Engineer openings at Electric Power Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm your authorization path before applying. EPE's hiring process typically includes a technical screening focused on power systems tools and simulation software, followed by interviews with project and team leads. Applying with a resume that highlights specific grid or interconnection experience improves your chances of advancing.
Which visa types does Electric Power Engineers commonly use for Electrical Project Engineers?
Electric Power Engineers sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. H-1B is the most common route for long-term employment. TN is a strong alternative for Canadian and Mexican engineers, since it bypasses the H-1B lottery. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students and recent graduates pursuing entry-level or internship positions within the engineering practice.
What qualifications and experience does Electric Power Engineers expect for Electrical Project Engineers?
EPE typically looks for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with preference for candidates who have hands-on experience in power systems analysis, transmission planning, or utility-scale project work. Proficiency in tools like PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerWorld is commonly expected. Engineer-in-Training certification or active pursuit of a Professional Engineer license strengthens your application, particularly for roles involving client deliverables or utility interconnection studies.
How do I navigate the timeline between receiving a job offer and getting work authorization approved?
For H-1B, EPE must file your petition in April for an October 1 start date, so offers extended in spring align best with that window. F-1 OPT candidates can start sooner if OPT is already approved. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry with minimal lead time. For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, expect a multi-year process starting with PERM labor certification at DOL before any visa petition is filed.
