Certify Your Credentials Before Applying
Equipment Depot's maintenance roles require hands-on mechanical competency. Having a forklift technician certification or manufacturer-specific training credential documented before you apply signals job-readiness and reduces employer hesitation around sponsoring a non-citizen candidate.
Target Locations With Active Openings
Equipment Depot operates service branches across dozens of states. Focusing your applications on branches with multiple open technician roles increases your odds of reaching a hiring manager with both budget authority and familiarity with the PERM sponsorship process.
Understand EB-3 Before Your First Interview
Equipment Maintenance Technician roles at Equipment Depot typically fall under EB-3 skilled worker classification. Knowing the PERM labor certification timeline upfront lets you have an informed conversation with the hiring manager and signals you won't be caught off guard by the multi-year process.
Ask Directly About In-House Immigration Support
Distribution companies with national service networks often handle sponsorship through a centralized HR or legal function. Ask during the offer stage whether Equipment Depot uses in-house immigration counsel or an external firm, so you know who to follow up with on PERM filing status.
Browse Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Searching for Equipment Maintenance Technician roles at Equipment Depot by sponsorship history is faster when you filter by visa type. Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings and confirm which roles have a documented EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship track record before you apply.
Align Your Timeline With PERM Processing Realities
DOL PERM adjudication can take well over a year. If you're currently on OPT or a status with a defined end date, map your application timing carefully so you're not caught in a gap between authorization expiration and an approved I-140 petition.

Find Equipment Maintenance Technician at Equipment Depot JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Equipment Depot sponsor H-1B visas for Equipment Maintenance Technicians?
Equipment Depot's sponsorship activity for Equipment Maintenance Technician roles has been concentrated in the employment-based Green Card categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, rather than H-1B. Maintenance technician positions are typically classified as skilled trades, which makes the PERM-based EB-3 pathway a more natural fit than the H-1B specialty occupation route. If Green Card sponsorship is your goal, this role is a reasonable target.
Which visa types are commonly used for Equipment Maintenance Technician roles at Equipment Depot?
EB-3 is the most relevant visa category for this type of role at Equipment Depot. Skilled maintenance technician positions align with the EB-3 skilled worker classification, which requires DOL PERM labor certification followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS. EB-2 sponsorship is less common for this role but has occurred, typically where the position requires advanced technical qualifications or specialized equipment expertise.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Equipment Maintenance Technician positions at Equipment Depot?
Equipment Depot typically looks for hands-on experience maintaining and repairing material handling equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers. Manufacturer-specific certifications, familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems, and experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment are commonly expected. Candidates who can demonstrate diagnostic troubleshooting skills alongside a formal technical credential tend to move further in the hiring process.
How do I apply for Equipment Maintenance Technician jobs at Equipment Depot?
You can search for Equipment Maintenance Technician openings at Equipment Depot directly through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter by visa sponsorship type so you're only viewing roles with a documented sponsorship history. Apply with a resume that highlights specific equipment makes and models you've serviced, relevant certifications, and any experience in high-volume distribution or logistics environments. Tailoring your application to the specific branch location improves your chances of reaching the right hiring manager.
How do I plan my timeline if Equipment Depot offers me PERM sponsorship for an Equipment Maintenance Technician role?
PERM labor certification through the DOL can take one to two years or longer before USCIS even begins reviewing the I-140 petition. Factor in your current immigration status and any authorized stay expiration when evaluating an offer. If you're transitioning from a temporary status such as OPT, discuss bridging options with the employer's immigration counsel early in the process to avoid gaps in your work authorization.
