Document Your Equipment Certifications Before Applying
Equipment Depot's Repair Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with forklifts and material handling equipment. Gather your OEM training certificates, manufacturer-specific credentials, and any EPA 608 certifications before submitting your application so hiring managers can assess your qualifications immediately.
Target Branch Locations With High Technician Demand
Equipment Depot operates service branches across the country, and technician openings are not evenly distributed. Search by region rather than applying broadly, since branches in industrial corridors with active distribution and wholesale clients tend to have more persistent hiring needs and faster decision-making.
Confirm Sponsorship Willingness During the Interview Stage
Ask the hiring manager directly whether the specific branch has experience filing EB-2 or EB-3 petitions for technician roles. Local HR contacts sometimes differ in their familiarity with the PERM labor certification process, so confirming early prevents surprises after an offer is extended.
Understand the PERM Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
EB-3 sponsorship for trade roles like Repair Technician typically runs through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL, which can take a year or more before USCIS ever sees a petition. Build that timeline into your decision before accepting, especially if you're currently in a time-limited status.
Browse Equipment Depot Openings Through Migrate Mate
Filter Repair Technician roles at Equipment Depot by location and visa type using Migrate Mate, which surfaces employer sponsorship history alongside active job listings. This lets you prioritize branches where sponsorship has already been used for this function before cold-applying.
Align Your Resume to Material Handling Service Standards
Equipment Depot serves distribution and wholesale clients who depend on uptime. Highlight preventive maintenance metrics, specific equipment brands you've serviced, and any experience in a multi-site or field service environment. Technicians who can demonstrate diagnostic depth get faster traction with Equipment Depot's branch service managers.

Does Equipment Depot sponsor H-1B visas for Repair Technicians?
Repair Technician roles at Equipment Depot are generally classified as skilled trade positions rather than specialty occupations, which is the legal standard required for H-1B eligibility. As a result, Equipment Depot's sponsorship activity for this role is concentrated in the EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories rather than the H-1B program. If you're currently on an H-1B through another employer, that status isn't transferable to a trade role here.
Which visa types are commonly used for Repair Technician roles at Equipment Depot?
Equipment Depot has sponsored Repair Technicians through employment-based Green Card categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3. EB-3 is the more common pathway for skilled trade roles and requires the employer to complete a PERM labor certification with the DOL before filing an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Processing from PERM filing through Green Card approval typically spans multiple years, depending on your country of birth and priority date.
What qualifications and experience does Equipment Depot expect for Repair Technician roles?
Equipment Depot typically looks for technicians with hands-on experience servicing forklifts, reach trucks, or similar material handling equipment. Manufacturer certifications from brands like Toyota, Crown, or Hyster-Yale are valued. Most branch-level roles expect candidates who can perform independent diagnostics and preventive maintenance with limited supervision, reflecting the operational demands of their distribution and wholesale client base.
How do I apply for Repair Technician jobs at Equipment Depot?
You can find and apply for Repair Technician openings at Equipment Depot through Migrate Mate, which lists active roles alongside verified sponsorship history for this employer. When applying, focus your resume on specific equipment brands you've serviced and any field or multi-site experience. Mentioning your visa situation clearly in early conversations helps avoid delays once a hiring decision is reached.
How do I time my job search if I need sponsorship before my current status expires?
EB-3 PERM sponsorship is a long-term pathway and won't resolve an immediate status deadline. If your current work authorization expires within the next year or two, you'll need a bridge strategy, such as maintaining valid status through another employer or visa type while the Green Card process advances. Start the conversation with Equipment Depot's HR team early and ask whether they have immigration counsel on retainer who can advise on your specific timeline.
