Document technical certifications before applying
Operations Technician roles at Equipment Depot often require demonstrated proficiency with material handling equipment. Gather certifications like OSHA safety training or forklift operator credentials before your application, as these support PERM labor certification requirements later.
Target branches with active hiring volume
Equipment Depot operates service centers across multiple regions. Applying to locations with consistently open Operations Technician requisitions signals ongoing headcount need, which makes an employer more likely to pursue a lengthy EB-3 sponsorship process for a qualified candidate.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Distribution employers like Equipment Depot sometimes sponsor sponsorship-eligible candidates without advertising it upfront. Once you have an offer, ask HR directly whether they'll support an EB-2 or EB-3 petition, and confirm their experience working with immigration counsel.
Understand the PERM timeline for this role
EB-3 sponsorship for an Operations Technician typically starts with a DOL PERM labor certification, which can take 12 to 18 months. Knowing this timeline before you accept an offer helps you assess whether your current visa status gives you enough runway.
Use Migrate Mate to find active openings
Equipment Depot posts Operations Technician roles across multiple locations at any given time. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for their sponsorship-eligible positions and focus your applications on branches where they've actively hired for this function.
Align your work history to the job description precisely
PERM requires the employer to define minimum qualifications before advertising the role. If your resume describes your experience in general terms, reframe it to match Equipment Depot's specific language around equipment servicing, preventive maintenance, or operational troubleshooting.

Does Equipment Depot sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Technicians?
Equipment Depot's sponsorship activity for Operations Technician roles has focused on employment-based Green Card pathways, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, rather than H-1B. Operations Technician positions in distribution and equipment servicing are typically classified as skilled trades roles, which tend to fit the EB-3 category better than the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations Technician roles at Equipment Depot?
The EB-3 Green Card category is the most common pathway for Operations Technician sponsorship in distribution and wholesale industries. EB-3 covers skilled workers with at least two years of training or experience, which aligns well with the technical and mechanical background Equipment Depot typically requires. EB-2 sponsorship is possible if the role requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability.
What qualifications or experience does Equipment Depot expect for Operations Technician roles?
Equipment Depot generally looks for hands-on experience with industrial or material handling equipment, familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues. Relevant certifications strengthen your profile. The role sits within a distribution and service environment, so operational reliability and safety awareness carry significant weight in the hiring decision.
How do I apply for Operations Technician jobs at Equipment Depot?
You can find Equipment Depot's active Operations Technician openings through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles with visa sponsorship potential. Apply directly through Equipment Depot's careers portal once you identify a suitable location. Tailor your resume to their specific job description language, since PERM labor certification later requires that your qualifications match the posted minimum requirements exactly.
How do I plan my timeline if Equipment Depot offers me EB-3 sponsorship?
Once your employer files the PERM application with DOL, expect the labor certification phase alone to take 12 to 18 months under normal processing. The full EB-3 process, from PERM through I-140 approval and visa availability, can extend several years depending on your country of birth. Confirm your current visa status has enough validity to bridge that period before accepting a sponsorship-dependent offer.
