Certify Your Hands-On Repair Credentials Early
Groundworks repair roles require demonstrable experience with foundation systems, drainage, or structural waterproofing. Gather documentation of past fieldwork, employer references, and any trade certifications before you apply, so you're ready when sponsorship paperwork begins.
Target Groundworks Markets With Active Openings
Groundworks operates across dozens of regional markets, and hiring activity is uneven. Focus your outreach on locations with posted Repair Technician openings rather than applying to the company broadly. Use Migrate Mate to filter active Groundworks listings by location.
Understand How H-2B Sponsorship Works for Seasonal Roles
H-2B visas cover temporary nonagricultural workers and require the employer to demonstrate U.S. worker unavailability through DOL. If Groundworks offers you an H-2B, expect your authorization to be tied to a specific season or project period, not open-ended employment.
Clarify Your Status Before Accepting a Field Offer
Repair Technician roles at Groundworks often move quickly from interview to offer. Before you sign, confirm in writing that visa sponsorship is included and which classification applies. Verbal assurances are not enough when your legal work authorization is at stake.
Prepare for E-Verify Enrollment as a Day-One Requirement
Groundworks participates in E-Verify, meaning your work authorization documents will be checked against federal databases immediately upon onboarding. Have your I-94, passport, and any visa documentation organized and current before your start date to avoid delays.
Account for DOL Processing Time in Your Job Search Timeline
H-2B sponsorship requires DOL prevailing wage and temporary need certifications before USCIS can act. This process typically takes several months, so align your target start date with realistic government processing windows rather than assuming you can begin work immediately after an offer.

Does Groundworks sponsor H-1B visas for Repair Technicians?
Groundworks does not typically sponsor H-1B visas for Repair Technician roles. H-1B classification is reserved for specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, and hands-on repair technician work generally does not meet that threshold. The visa type Groundworks uses for this role falls under temporary worker classifications rather than the H-1B program.
Which visa types are commonly used for Repair Technician roles at Groundworks?
Groundworks sponsors H-2B visas for Repair Technicians. The H-2B classification covers temporary nonagricultural workers in skilled trades and field service roles. It requires the employer to file with DOL to certify that qualified U.S. workers are unavailable, then petition USCIS for approval. Your authorization is tied to the specific employer and work period listed on the petition.
What qualifications or experience does Groundworks expect for Repair Technicians?
Groundworks looks for candidates with practical experience in foundation repair, crawl space encapsulation, basement waterproofing, or related structural systems. Formal trade certifications help, but documented field experience carries significant weight. Familiarity with excavation, drainage systems, or concrete repair is an advantage. The role is physically demanding, so a background in construction or facilities maintenance is directly relevant.
How do I apply for Repair Technician jobs at Groundworks?
You can browse and apply for Repair Technician positions at Groundworks through Migrate Mate, which aggregates visa-sponsoring employers and lets you filter by role, location, and visa type. Groundworks posts openings across multiple regional markets, so search by your target geography. When you apply, make clear that you require visa sponsorship so the hiring team can route your application appropriately from the start.
How long does the H-2B sponsorship process typically take at Groundworks?
The H-2B process involves two federal agencies and generally takes several months from start to work authorization. DOL must certify the temporary labor need and prevailing wage, then USCIS adjudicates the I-129 petition. If you need a visa stamp, add consular processing time on top. Plan your job search timeline accordingly and avoid targeting start dates that don't leave room for this sequence.
