SUMMARY
The Resort Painters is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the visual appearance of the resort buildings, guest rooms, and facilities through skilled painting, finishing, and maintenance work on interior and exterior surfaces. This position involves applying paint, varnish, wallpaper, hanging or repairing drywall, tile, doors, carpet, furniture, or other surfaces. Resort Painters complete work orders and provide quick responses, follow through and excellent customer service to guests, residents, members, and departmental areas within the resort. Painters report to and take directions from the engineering management team which includes Engineering Supervisors, Assistant Director of Engineering, and the Director of Engineering.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to maintenance request in guest and meeting rooms
- Paint rooms, guest and service areas as needed; stain and touch up doors, frames and trim; designate freshly painted areas with signage
- Fill cracks, holes, or joints with calk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives
- Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to equipment or surfaces using brushes, spray guns, or rollers
- Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting
- Respond to all work orders related to carpentry including repairing furniture, molding and doors, and building shelves and desks using Formica
- Plan projects and order supplies in advance to assure work is done in a timely manner and to obtain the best price
- Maintain adequate inventory and requisition supplies
- Be responsible for the condition of all assigned tools and equipment
- Respond to mobile radio requests using professional radio etiquette. Be responsible for the condition of personally assigned mobile radio
- Maintain open line of communication with supervisor by attending weekly meetings with engineering management
- Maintain superior working relations with internal and external customers while providing a memorable experience
- Ensure personal accountability for all work duties, assignments, and performance expectations
- Lead by example by displaying a readiness to respond positively to instruction and procedures
- Provide and receive feedback in a positive manner, earning respect from others by consistently displaying a positive attitude and behaviors

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or GED
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and insurable through GTRS insurance policy
- Experience working with computer work order systems and Microsoft operating systems
- 2 years previous experience residential/commercial painting
- Previous experience mixing paint, stain, and application; hanging, repairing, and finishing drywall and wallpaper is preferred

TYPICAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work from 12 foot ladder and/or from personnel lift up to 35 feet
- Utilize power tools, hand tools, electrical wiring, and deals with lock out/tag out
- Ability to quickly move arms, hands, and fingers to grasp; manipulate and assemble objects, walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or stand for long periods of time
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs
- Ability to comprehend and follow directions
- Effectively handle stressful and difficult situations/interactions while remaining focused and professional
- Ability to see objects at close range and at a distance
- Perform complex or varied tasks under deadlines and tight schedules
- Ability to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines; last minute requests and changes will occur at any time
- Maintain eye contact and engage with internal and external guests in a courteous and professional manner

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working on roof or buildings, off extension ladders, personnel lift and other high places
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and possible risk of electrical shock
- Frequents exposed to high and precarious places, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a safe and productive manner
- Practice safety policies, procedures, and standards set by OSHA and/or MIOSHA
- Employee parking proximity to resort entrance varies season to season due to business volume
- Flexible schedule, at times may need to be willing to adjust and work evenings, weekends, and an occasional holiday
