Target roles that align with Affirm's core product
Affirm's H-1B sponsorship tends to concentrate in software engineering, data science, and financial analytics. Focusing your application on roles tied to its buy-now-pay-later platform increases your chances of landing a position that qualifies for sponsorship.
Understand Affirm's H-1B timeline before you apply
H-1B petitions must be filed well in advance of your start date due to USCIS processing timelines and the annual cap lottery. Raise sponsorship early in your conversations with Affirm recruiters so both sides can plan around key filing deadlines.
Verify Affirm's sponsorship history before applying
Confirming that a company has an active H-1B sponsorship track record saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and apply with confidence that Affirm is genuinely open to H-1B candidates.
Demonstrate specialty occupation qualifications clearly
H-1B approval requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. When applying to Affirm, emphasize the technical depth and degree-specific requirements of your background in your resume and interviews.
Engage Affirm's recruiting team directly about sponsorship
In the Banking & Financial Services sector, visa policies can vary by team and role level. Contacting Affirm's talent acquisition team early to confirm sponsorship eligibility for your specific position avoids surprises late in the hiring process.
Prepare for the H-1B cap lottery reality
Most Affirm roles fall under the H-1B annual cap, meaning selection is not guaranteed. Arriving with an active OPT or STEM OPT extension gives you flexibility to start work while waiting on lottery results and petition approval from USCIS.
Affirm H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for qualified candidates in specialized roles. The company has an established track record of supporting international employees through the H-1B process, particularly in technical and analytical functions. Roles must qualify as specialty occupations, so positions in engineering, data science, and finance are most commonly sponsored.
Which departments at Affirm are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Affirm is most common in software engineering, machine learning, data science, product management, and financial analytics. These roles align closely with H-1B specialty occupation requirements because they demand degree-specific expertise in fields like computer science, mathematics, or finance. Corporate and administrative roles are less frequently sponsored.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Affirm?
Once Affirm extends you an offer, their legal or HR team typically engages an immigration attorney to prepare your H-1B petition. You'll provide documentation supporting your degree, job duties, and salary. Affirm files the petition on your behalf with USCIS, covering required employer fees. Communicate openly with your recruiter about timing to avoid gaps in work authorization.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Affirm?
Standard H-1B processing with USCIS can take three to six months after a petition is filed. Affirm can request premium processing to receive a decision within a few business days, though this doesn't guarantee approval. Factor in the April lottery registration window, as cap-subject petitions can only take effect starting October 1 of that fiscal year.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Affirm as an international applicant?
Start by searching Affirm's careers page for open roles, then cross-reference with a platform like Migrate Mate, which verifies sponsor history so you're only investing time in companies with real H-1B track records. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status on application forms and flag sponsorship needs early in recruiter conversations to avoid mismatches.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Affirm?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
