Align your degree to Fidelity's specialty occupation standard
Fidelity's H-1B petitions must meet USCIS's specialty occupation definition, meaning your degree field must directly correspond to the role. For tech and quant roles, a degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics carries more weight than a general business credential.
Target Fidelity's technology and quantitative teams
H-1B sponsorship at Fidelity concentrates in software engineering, data science, and quantitative research. Applying directly to these departments, rather than generalist business roles, puts you in the pipeline where sponsorship infrastructure and legal precedent already exist.
Confirm sponsorship intent before your final interview
Recruiters at large financial firms sometimes separate visa conversations from hiring conversations. Ask explicitly whether the specific role and location are approved for H-1B sponsorship before advancing to offer stage, since not every Fidelity business unit sponsors uniformly.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Fidelity's LCA filing history
Before applying, research which job titles and offices Fidelity has filed Labor Condition Applications for in the past. Migrate Mate surfaces this DOL filing data by employer, so you can see which roles and locations have the strongest H-1B track record at Fidelity specifically.
Verify your prevailing wage tier using the OFLC Wage Search
Fidelity must certify your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check your wage level before negotiations, so you can evaluate whether an offer meets the threshold required for a clean LCA certification.
Prepare for Fidelity's H-1B April lottery window
H-1B registrations open in March for an April 1 start date. Fidelity must submit your registration during this window, so confirm your offer and complete all internal approvals well before March. Missing this cycle means waiting a full year before your next cap-subject H-1B opportunity.
Fidelity Investments H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fidelity Investments sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Fidelity Investments sponsors H-1B visas, primarily for roles in software engineering, data science, quantitative research, and financial analysis. Sponsorship is most consistent in technology-heavy teams. Not every role or business unit participates, so confirming sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process is important before investing significant time in an application.
Which roles at Fidelity Investments typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Fidelity concentrates in technical and analytical roles: software engineers, data engineers, quantitative analysts, and investment technology specialists are the most common. Corporate functions like finance and compliance occasionally sponsor, but technology and research positions represent the core of Fidelity's H-1B activity due to their clear specialty occupation alignment.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Fidelity Investments?
Once Fidelity extends an offer, their immigration team or outside counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Your role is to supply documentation including your degree transcripts and employment history. The process is employer-driven, but staying responsive to documentation requests keeps the timeline on track.
How do I find open H-1B roles at Fidelity Investments?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified H-1B filing history, making it straightforward to identify Fidelity positions where sponsorship is realistic. Searching directly on Fidelity's careers site and filtering for technology and quantitative roles also surfaces the departments where H-1B sponsorship is most established.
How long does the H-1B process take at Fidelity Investments?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS takes several months after the October 1 start date. If Fidelity opts for premium processing, USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days. Cap-subject H-1B petitions require winning the April lottery first, so the full timeline from offer to work authorization can span six months or longer depending on the lottery cycle.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Fidelity Investments?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
