Job Roles at Kiewit
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Kiewit H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles
Kiewit's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering positions tied to energy infrastructure projects. Focusing your applications on these disciplines puts you in the strongest position for sponsorship consideration.
Understand Kiewit's project-based hiring model
Kiewit hires around specific project pipelines in energy and construction. Research active projects in your discipline before applying, since H-1B sponsorship decisions are often tied to project staffing needs and timelines rather than general headcount.
Apply early relative to the H-1B cap season
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. To meet that window, Kiewit needs to initiate your sponsorship several months prior, so aim to have an offer in hand by late fall or early winter.
Highlight field-ready skills in your application
Kiewit prioritizes candidates who can contribute on active job sites, not just in office roles. Emphasizing hands-on project experience, site work, or construction management training makes your profile stronger for roles that realistically carry H-1B sponsorship.
Use verified sponsorship data to confirm active roles
Not every open role at Kiewit will include H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on positions where international candidates have a genuine path forward.
Ask about sponsorship directly during the interview process
Kiewit recruiters are experienced with H-1B sponsorship for engineering hires. Asking clearly and early about whether a specific role supports sponsorship saves time for both sides and signals that you understand the process and your own timeline.

Does Kiewit sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent history of sponsoring international employees, primarily in engineering and technical roles across its energy and infrastructure business units. Sponsorship is most common for positions requiring specialized engineering degrees, and Kiewit has demonstrated a long-term commitment to retaining international talent through the H-1B program.
Which roles and departments at Kiewit typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Kiewit is most prevalent in civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering roles tied to energy and heavy construction projects. Project engineering, field engineering, and construction management positions are the most common sponsored categories. Corporate functions in finance or HR are less likely to carry sponsorship, so candidates should focus on technical and project-facing disciplines.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Kiewit?
Once Kiewit extends an offer to a sponsored candidate, the company works with an immigration attorney to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by an H-1B petition with USCIS. Kiewit manages this process on your behalf, but you will need to provide educational credentials, employment documentation, and information about your current immigration status in a timely manner.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Kiewit?
From offer acceptance to an approved H-1B, the process typically takes several months. If your petition goes through the standard lottery and cap process, you are looking at a start date no earlier than October 1 of that fiscal year. Kiewit will generally need to begin your petition well before the April 1 filing deadline, so receiving an offer in the fall or winter prior is the most reliable path.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Kiewit?
Kiewit posts openings on its careers site, but listings rarely specify H-1B sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate aggregates jobs from verified H-1B sponsors like Kiewit and lets you filter specifically for roles with confirmed sponsorship history, which helps you avoid spending time on applications at companies or for positions that do not support international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Kiewit?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
