Align your credentials to construction engineering roles
Electrical and construction engineering roles at Helix Electric require demonstrable project experience, not just a degree. Gather documentation showing field involvement, design work, or project management contributions before you apply, since sponsorship decisions often hinge on how well your background maps to active project needs.
Target open roles by project type
Helix Electric staffs engineers across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Applying to roles tied to active project pipelines improves your chances, since employers in construction sponsor when project demand creates genuine workforce gaps, not on a rolling basis.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Helix Electric has sponsored multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Know which category fits your situation before the offer conversation so you can confirm compatibility quickly, since construction timelines don't leave much room for extended back-and-forth on visa logistics.
Prepare for PERM's prevailing wage requirements
If you're pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through Helix Electric, PERM requires DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. workers were displaced. Your offered salary must meet the prevailing wage for your engineering role and location, which DOL determines using its wage library.
Use F-1 OPT to demonstrate value before H-1B filing
Construction firms often sponsor H-1B for engineers who've already proven themselves on-site. If you're on OPT, use that period to work directly on Helix Electric projects. Demonstrating technical output during OPT gives the company a concrete reason to commit to H-1B sponsorship before the April registration window.
Find Helix Electric's open engineering roles through Migrate Mate
Helix Electric posts engineering roles across multiple locations and project types. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is a confirmed option, not an assumption you'll need to verify after applying.

Find Engineering at Helix Electric JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Helix Electric sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Helix Electric has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering roles. The H-1B requires your position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which engineering roles in electrical construction generally meet given the degree requirements involved. Your employer submits the H-1B petition to USCIS after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL. Sponsorship typically applies to full-time positions tied to active project work.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Helix Electric?
Search for open engineering roles directly on Helix Electric's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to reflect the type of electrical or construction engineering work Helix handles, including any project scale, systems experience, or field coordination background. Reaching out to the recruiting team directly after applying can help your application move faster in a high-volume hiring environment.
Which visa types does Helix Electric commonly use for Engineering roles?
Helix Electric has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for engineering positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B and Green Card sponsorship tend to apply to engineers in longer-term, project-critical roles. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican engineers whose occupation appears on the USMCA qualifying list.
What qualifications does Helix Electric expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Helix Electric engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, and practical experience in construction or infrastructure settings carries significant weight. For specialty occupation visas like the H-1B, USCIS requires the role to normally require a specific degree, so your academic background and job duties need to align clearly. Project coordination, design software proficiency, and field supervision experience strengthen your application.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship at Helix Electric?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, with an October 1 start date for approved petitions. If you're on F-1 OPT, you can work for Helix Electric legally during the gap if your OPT remains valid and you're selected in the lottery. Building your relationship with Helix Electric well before March gives the company time to prepare filings and increases the likelihood they'll sponsor your registration.
