Target technical and engineering roles
Horrocks focuses its sponsorship on specialized roles tied to infrastructure, design, and project delivery. Applying to positions that require field-specific degrees, civil, structural, or environmental engineering, puts you in the strongest position for sponsorship consideration.
Leverage OPT or CPT to get a foot in the door
Horrocks has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, making it a viable target while you're still on your student visa. Starting on OPT gives both you and the employer time to assess fit before an H-1B petition becomes necessary.
Align your application with project-based hiring cycles
Construction and real estate firms like Horrocks often hire around project timelines. Researching active infrastructure projects in your target region can help you time applications when the company is most likely staffing up technical roles.
Emphasize licensure and certification progress
Engineering employers in construction and real estate value candidates who are working toward professional licensure. Highlighting your EIT status or progress toward a PE license signals long-term value and makes sponsorship a more straightforward business case for Horrocks.
Look for open roles with verified sponsorship history
Not every job listing at an engineering firm will clarify whether sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving you time targeting companies that have actually filed for international workers.
Prepare for a technical-first interview process
Horrocks evaluates candidates on domain expertise in engineering and infrastructure. Come prepared to discuss project experience, software proficiency, and technical problem-solving, these carry more weight than general professional skills for roles that typically receive sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Horrocks sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Horrocks sponsors H-1B visas. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions for technical roles in engineering and infrastructure. Sponsorship at Horrocks is concentrated in specialty occupation positions, so candidates with degrees in civil, structural, or environmental engineering are best positioned to pursue H-1B sponsorship there.
Which visa types does Horrocks sponsor?
Horrocks sponsors several visa categories, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas. This range makes the company accessible to candidates at different stages of their immigration journey, from students on CPT looking for internships to experienced engineers seeking H-1B sponsorship for full-time roles.
Which departments or roles at Horrocks are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Horrocks is most common in engineering and technical disciplines aligned with its core work in infrastructure, construction, and real estate projects. Roles in civil engineering, transportation planning, environmental services, and project management are the most consistent targets. Positions requiring specialized degrees tend to qualify most readily as specialty occupations under H-1B rules.
What is the typical timeline for visa sponsorship at Horrocks?
For H-1B sponsorship, the process begins with an employer-filed Labor Condition Application, followed by the USCIS petition. Standard processing takes several months, though premium processing can accelerate USCIS review to around 15 business days for an additional fee. Many candidates at engineering firms like Horrocks bridge the gap using F-1 OPT or CPT while the H-1B process moves forward.
How do I find and apply for sponsored roles at Horrocks?
The most efficient approach is to search for Horrocks on Migrate Mate, which aggregates open positions from verified sponsoring employers and lets you filter by visa type and industry. Once you identify a relevant role, tailor your application to emphasize technical credentials, relevant project experience, and any licensure progress, the factors Horrocks evaluates most heavily in engineering candidates.
