Job Description: The world is transforming - and so is Intel. Intel is a company of bold and curious inventors and problem solvers who create some of the most astounding technology advancements and experiences in the world. With a legacy of relentless innovation and a commitment to bring smart, connected devices to every person on Earth, our diverse and brilliant teams are continually searching for tomorrow's technology and revel in the challenge that changing the world for the better brings. We work every single day to design and manufacture silicon products that empower people's digital lives. Come join us and do something wonderful.
The Opportunity
For nearly a decade, Intel's Neuromorphic Computing Lab - together with a global ecosystem of 250+ research groups - has explored architectures, algorithms, and software inspired by the brain's extraordinary efficiency, scalability, and adaptability. Our Loihi series of research chips pioneered event-driven, sparse, and massively parallel neuro-inspired processing, fueling over 100 peer-reviewed publications that validate the promise of this novel approach. Now, we're entering an exciting new chapter: transforming these breakthroughs into real-world products that will power the coming era of physical AI systems - beyond the reach of GPUs and mainstream AI accelerators. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of computing, from transistor-level innovation to software abstractions, join us. Help define the next wave of AI technology that harnesses the proven advantages of Intel's neuromorphic computing technology with the versatility demanded by modern AI workloads.
Position Overview
We are growing our silicon team, seeking an experienced pre-silicon verification engineer passionate about innovation at the intersection between emerging semiconductor technology and novel computing paradigms. As a member of Intel's neuromorphic silicon team, you will play a hands-on role in developing a scalable verification framework spanning software, RTL and emulation models to verify these novel architectures. An openness to learning new technologies and methodologies, such as asynchronous design and AI automation, is essential.
Responsibilities
- Creating unit-level and system-level test plans.
- Write directed and random tests for design partitions and chip-level.
- Debugging test failures, tracking coverage and working with designers to fix failures and improve coverage.
- Maintaining assertions, scoreboards and any tools/flows that are developed.
Minimum Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.
- Bachelors and 8+ years OR Masters and 6+ years of silicon engineering experience.
- 5+ years of verification experience in SoC accelerators or custom ASIC designs.
- 5+ years of experience in UVM/OVM and constrained random verification methods.
- 2+ years of experience owning the entire verification stack including test planning, test development, coverage tracking, and interfacing with emulation models.
- 1+ year of experience using AI tools for test generation, debugging and improving overall productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in neuromorphic computing or AI/ML accelerator design.
- Experience with commercial Verification IPs for standard IO interfaces, PHYs, and protocols such as Ethernet, PCIE, MACsec/IPsec, RoCEv2, MIPI CSI-2, JESD204.

Align your experience to Intel's silicon stack
Intel's Senior Software Engineering roles frequently require experience adjacent to hardware, such as firmware, driver development, CPU simulation, or compiler toolchains. Positioning your background around these areas before applying significantly strengthens your profile for sponsorship-eligible roles.
Target Intel's Hillsboro and Santa Clara sites
Intel concentrates its software engineering hiring at specific campuses tied to core product groups. Filtering applications by site lets you match your technical focus to the right business unit, which matters when Intel's legal team structures your LCA filing with DOL.
Confirm your visa category early in recruiting
Intel sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and OPT among others, but eligibility depends on your nationality and current status. Clarify which category applies to you before the offer stage so Intel's immigration team can prepare the correct petition without delaying your start date.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation now
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for software roles closely. Having a transcript, degree equivalency evaluation, and a clear description of how your technical work requires a specialized degree makes Intel's petition far less likely to receive a Request for Evidence.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Intel roles that sponsor
Search Migrate Mate to browse Senior Software Engineering openings at Intel filtered by visa type. This saves time identifying which active roles are tied to sponsorship and lets you focus your application on positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Account for PERM timing if you're planning for a Green Card
Intel typically initiates PERM labor certification for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship after a defined tenure. If permanent residence is a long-term goal, ask your recruiter about Intel's standard timeline so you can plan your H-1B extensions and priority date strategy accordingly.

Find Senior Software Engineering at Intel JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Intel sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes, Intel sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. Intel has an established immigration program and works with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions, including premium processing where needed. Because Intel is a large employer subject to H-1B cap requirements, new sponsorship for candidates without an existing H-1B typically requires going through the annual lottery in April.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Intel?
Apply directly through Intel's careers portal at jobs.intel.com, or use Migrate Mate to browse Senior Software Engineering roles at Intel filtered by visa sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific product area, whether that's firmware, platform software, or silicon validation. Recruiter screens at Intel typically assess both technical depth and familiarity with hardware-software interaction early in the process.
Which visa types does Intel commonly sponsor for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Intel sponsors H-1B, E-3 (for Australian citizens), TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT, J-1, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories. The right category depends on your nationality and current immigration status. Senior Software Engineering roles qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS definitions, which supports multiple nonimmigrant visa classifications.
What qualifications does Intel expect for Senior Software Engineering positions?
Intel typically expects a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, along with several years of relevant industry experience. Senior roles often require demonstrated expertise in areas like systems programming, compilers, firmware, or platform software. For H-1B and E-3 purposes, your degree must directly correspond to the specialized duties of the role.
How do I plan my timeline around Intel's visa sponsorship process?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Intel must submit your registration during the annual lottery window in March, with the petition filed by April 1 if selected. OPT and E-3 timelines are more flexible since they aren't lottery-dependent. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the process typically begins after you've been employed for a period defined by Intel's internal policy, which you can confirm with their immigration team after receiving an offer.
