Frame your resume around EDA and process control
KLA's software engineering work is tied to semiconductor equipment, yield analysis, and metrology systems. Highlighting experience with real-time systems, C++ or Python in hardware-adjacent contexts, or manufacturing automation signals direct fit before your application reaches a recruiter.
Verify your OPT start date against KLA's hiring cycle
KLA's semiconductor equipment business operates on product release schedules that shape when engineering headcount opens. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization window aligns with the role's expected start date before applying, since onboarding delays can compress your usable OPT time.
Ask the recruiter which entity will file your H-1B petition
KLA operates multiple subsidiaries and acquired companies. Knowing which legal entity sponsors your H-1B matters because the USCIS petition, LCA prevailing wage determination, and any future PERM green card filing will all be tied to that specific employer of record.
Prepare documentation that maps your degree to the role
USCIS requires H-1B specialty occupation evidence linking your specific degree field to the engineering role. For KLA's software positions, a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline strengthens the petition far more than a general technology background.
Search for open Senior Software Engineering roles at KLA on Migrate Mate
KLA posts across multiple job boards, which makes it easy to miss active openings. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for KLA's visa-sponsoring Senior Software Engineering roles so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Understand how TN status interacts with long-term green card plans
If you're Canadian or Mexican and KLA offers TN sponsorship, be aware that TN status requires demonstrated nonimmigrant intent, which can create complications if KLA simultaneously initiates PERM labor certification for an EB-2 or EB-3 green card. Discuss the sequencing with KLA's immigration counsel before accepting.

Find Senior Software Engineering at KLA JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does KLA sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes, KLA sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. The process requires KLA to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit a petition to USCIS on your behalf. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the April lottery, timing your offer and start date around that cycle matters if you're not already in H-1B status.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at KLA?
Applications go through KLA's careers portal, where roles are posted by business unit and location. Search for Senior Software Engineer positions and filter by the relevant product division, since KLA's software work spans different engineering groups including metrology, inspection, and data analytics. Migrate Mate also aggregates KLA's visa-sponsoring openings so you can browse roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Which visa types does KLA commonly use for Senior Software Engineering roles?
KLA sponsors H-1B visas for most international software engineering hires and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For longer-term permanent residence, KLA files EB-2 and EB-3 petitions through the PERM labor certification process. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles may also be eligible for TN status, and J-1 sponsorship is available in specific research or exchange contexts.
What qualifications does KLA expect for Senior Software Engineering roles?
KLA's Senior Software Engineering positions typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with meaningful industry experience in software development. Given KLA's focus on semiconductor equipment, familiarity with real-time systems, algorithm development for image or signal processing, or software for hardware integration strengthens a candidacy significantly beyond general full-stack or web development backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at KLA for a software role?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap-subject cases follow a fixed USCIS calendar with an April lottery and October 1 start dates, so planning 6 to 12 months ahead is realistic. OPT transfers and TN approvals move faster, often within weeks. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is a multi-year process and typically starts after you're established in the role.
