Align your resume to memory technology domains
Micron's senior engineering roles cluster around DRAM, NAND, and storage firmware. Tailoring your resume to reflect embedded systems, memory controller software, or hardware-software co-design gives you a clearer signal match than general backend or cloud experience.
Verify your credentials meet specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility requires a direct connection between your degree field and the role. For Micron's senior engineering positions, a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering typically satisfies USCIS specialty occupation requirements most cleanly.
Target roles posted under Micron's semiconductor divisions
Micron hires across memory design, process technology, and enterprise storage. Senior software roles tied to fab automation, yield software, or firmware development are more likely to be sponsored than generalist software positions sitting outside the core hardware stack.
Understand Micron's PERM timeline before accepting an offer
If you're on H-1B and targeting a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification can take 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition even begins. Clarify whether your offer letter includes a Green Card commitment and at what seniority threshold sponsorship starts.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Micron's open senior engineering roles
Sponsorship-eligible Senior Software Engineering positions at Micron aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to surface and filter Micron's open roles by visa type so you're only spending time on positions where H-1B sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare for H-1B cap timing relative to your current status
If you're transitioning from OPT or CPT, Micron must file your H-1B cap petition by April 1 for an October 1 start. Confirming your STEM OPT extension end date against this timeline determines whether a cap-exempt bridge role or OPT extension is needed.

Find Senior Software Engineering at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes. Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers, particularly in roles tied to memory systems, firmware development, and semiconductor tooling. Sponsorship is most common for positions where the technical requirements directly align with your degree field, satisfying USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Roles in fab software, storage firmware, and memory controller engineering are among those where sponsorship is regularly offered.
Which visa types does Micron Technology use for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Senior Software Engineers at the nonimmigrant stage. For permanent residency, the company uses EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways, which typically involve PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. The right pathway depends on your qualifications, your degree level, and the specific role's requirements within Micron's engineering organization.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Micron Technology?
You can browse and apply for Senior Software Engineering roles at Micron through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting time on roles that won't support your status. Once you identify a role, applications go through Micron's careers portal. Tailor your application to reflect experience in memory technology, embedded systems, or hardware-adjacent software development to align with Micron's core hiring focus.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for Senior Software Engineering positions?
Micron typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering for senior engineering roles. Beyond the degree, hands-on experience with firmware development, memory subsystems, storage protocols, or semiconductor tooling is a strong differentiator. Senior-level roles often require several years of industry experience, with depth in low-level programming, hardware-software interfaces, or performance optimization in constrained environments.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Micron Technology?
The H-1B process starts with Micron filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which typically takes seven business days. After LCA certification, the I-129 petition is filed with USCIS. Standard processing takes three to six months. Premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days, is available for an additional fee and is worth discussing with Micron's immigration team if your current status has a tight expiration window.
