Align your resume to Eaton's tech stack
Eaton's Senior Software Engineering roles frequently require embedded C++, cloud-connected product development, or industrial IoT platforms. Tailor your resume to reflect these specifically, not generic full-stack experience, so it clears their engineering-focused applicant tracking system.
Target roles in power management divisions
Eaton's electrical and power management business units post Senior Software Engineering openings more consistently than other segments. Filtering by these divisions improves your odds of landing a role with a team that already has an established sponsorship workflow.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings
Eaton posts Senior Software Engineering roles across multiple career portals and they don't always stay live long. Use Migrate Mate to track sponsorship-confirmed openings at Eaton so you're applying to roles with active headcount, not stale listings.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
For H-1B specialty occupation eligibility, USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the software engineering role. If your degree is in a adjacent discipline, get a credential evaluation done before your employer files the I-129 petition.
Understand Eaton's PERM timing if you want permanence
If your goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, ask during the offer stage whether Eaton initiates PERM labor certification for Senior Software Engineers. DOL processing times currently run 12 to 18 months, so earlier conversations give you a realistic timeline.

Find Senior Software Engineering at Eaton JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eaton sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineerings?
Yes, Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery and has a consistent history of filing petitions for engineering talent across its electrical, industrial, and power management divisions. If you're currently on OPT, Eaton also supports the H-1B cap-gap period while your petition is pending.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Eaton?
Applications go through Eaton's careers portal at eaton.com/careers. Search for Senior Software Engineer openings and filter by business segment or location. Roles move quickly, so applying within the first week of a posting going live improves your chances. Migrate Mate also aggregates Eaton's sponsorship-confirmed Senior Software Engineering listings in one place if you want a faster way to track new postings.
Which visa types does Eaton commonly use for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Eaton sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Senior Software Engineering positions, along with TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students transitioning into full-time positions, and files EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions for engineers seeking permanent residence. The applicable category depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications does Eaton expect for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Most Senior Software Engineering postings at Eaton require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, plus substantial hands-on experience. Roles in Eaton's connected products and power management segments often look for embedded systems or industrial software backgrounds. For H-1B purposes, USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the job duties, so a narrowly matched background strengthens your petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at a company like Eaton?
For H-1B, the timeline depends on the lottery cycle. USCIS opens registration in March, with a start date of October 1 if selected. Standard I-129 adjudication takes three to six months; premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. For Green Card pathways, PERM labor certification through DOL currently takes 12 to 18 months before Eaton can file the I-140 immigrant petition, so early alignment on long-term sponsorship intent matters.
