Align Your Portfolio to Semiconductor Architecture
Micron prioritizes Software Architects with experience in memory subsystems, firmware interfaces, or storage stack design. Frame your portfolio around NAND, DRAM, or NVMe-adjacent work before applying, even if your background is adjacent rather than direct.
Target Roles Tied to PERM-Eligible Workflows
Micron files EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for Software Architects in long-cycle product development roles. Roles tied to multi-year platform roadmaps are most likely to support PERM sponsorship, so ask recruiters specifically whether a position is flagged for immigrant visa eligibility.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Case Early
USCIS scrutinizes Software Architect H-1B petitions where job duties overlap with general software engineering. Document how your role requires a specific degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Clarify the LCA Before Signing Your Offer
Micron files Labor Condition Applications with DOL before your H-1B petition can proceed. Confirm which worksite location appears on the LCA, especially if your role involves rotations between Boise, Boise-adjacent fabs, or remote assignments, since LCA amendments cause delays.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Active Openings
Software Architect roles at Micron open and close quickly against active hiring cycles. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa sponsorship type so you can prioritize applications to positions where H-1B or Green Card sponsorship is already confirmed.
Time Your Application Around Micron's Hiring Cycles
Micron's fiscal year ends in August, which means headcount approvals for sponsored roles often release in Q4. Applying between September and November positions you ahead of the H-1B cap registration window USCIS opens in March.

Find Software Architect at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Software Architects?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Software Architect roles. The company has a well-established sponsorship program that covers both the initial H-1B petition and extensions. Micron also supports H-1B1 sponsorship for eligible nationals. If you're in a cap-subject situation, your application timing relative to the USCIS March registration window matters significantly.
How do I apply for Software Architect jobs at Micron Technology?
Apply directly through Micron's careers portal, where Software Architect roles are listed by business unit, including Memory Solutions, Compute and Networking, and Embedded. Tailor your resume to reflect hardware-adjacent software architecture experience. You can also browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate, which filters Micron roles by visa type so you apply to the right positions from the start.
Which visa types does Micron Technology commonly use for Software Architect roles?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Software Architects in nonimmigrant status. For permanent residence, the company files under EB-2 and EB-3 categories depending on the role's degree requirements and the candidate's qualifications. Architects working on long-cycle memory platform development are the most common candidates for employer-sponsored Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for Software Architect roles?
Micron typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering for Software Architect positions. Practical experience with memory systems, firmware architecture, storage protocols such as NVMe or UFS, or embedded software platforms is heavily weighted. For H-1B purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the specific architecture domain the role covers, not just general software development.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline for a Software Architect role at Micron?
Once Micron extends an offer, your employer initiates a Labor Condition Application with DOL, which must be certified before USCIS can receive your H-1B petition. The full sequence from offer to work authorization typically takes three to six months for cap-exempt transfers, longer if you're subject to the annual H-1B lottery. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension timeline against Micron's expected petition filing date to avoid a gap.
