As a Staff Engineer, you will set the architectural direction for large portions of our front-end platform, partner closely with Product and Design, and mentor engineers across teams. You’ll operate at both the strategic and hands-on levels—shaping long-term technical decisions while staying close to the code.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do
- Architect and evolve large-scale front-end systems using modern web technologies, with a focus on React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- Define and drive front-end architecture standards across micro-frontends, shared component libraries, design systems, and platform services.
- Lead technical design for complex, high-impact features that span multiple teams and domains.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Backend teams to translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable front-end solutions.
- Establish best practices around performance, accessibility, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Own key technical decisions and trade-offs, including state management, data fetching patterns, rendering strategies, and build tooling.
- Mentor senior and staff-level engineers, raising the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and architecture forums.
- Identify and proactively address front-end platform gaps, tech debt, and scaling challenges.
- Influence roadmap planning by connecting technical investments to product and business outcomes.
- Stay current with the evolving front-end ecosystem and thoughtfully introduce new technologies where they provide clear value.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What You’ll Need to Succeed

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a front-end technical lead or architect on complex, production-grade web applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong experience with Node.js and understanding of full-stack web architectures.
- Hands-on experience designing systems using micro-frontends, shared UI platforms, and design systems.
- Deep understanding of browser fundamentals, performance optimization, and rendering strategies.
- Experience working in large codebases with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong architectural judgment—able to balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas and influence without authority.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building or scaling platform-level front-end infrastructure used by many teams.
- Familiarity with server-side rendering, edge rendering, or hybrid rendering models.
- Experience integrating front-end applications with complex backend and data services.
- Passion for developer experience, tooling, and productivity.
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture.
- Contributions to open source, internal frameworks, or technical communities.
- Experience building front ends for data-heavy, workflow-driven, or AI-powered products.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Software Architect Jobs at Adobe Jobs
Align your portfolio to Adobe's platform architecture
Adobe's Software Architect roles center on cloud-native systems, microservices, and large-scale distributed platforms. Frame your experience around those specific patterns before applying, not general enterprise architecture work that could apply anywhere.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Adobe openings
Software Architect positions at Adobe are posted across multiple channels and vary by product team. Use Migrate Mate to find and filter Adobe roles confirmed to offer visa sponsorship so you're not applying blind to listings that exclude international candidates.
Prepare your credential documentation before offer stage
Adobe's H-1B filings require demonstrating specialty occupation status. Have your degree certificates, transcripts, and any foreign credential evaluations ready in advance so your employer's immigration counsel can move quickly after an offer is made.
Understand Adobe's H-1B cap-subject filing window
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed with USCIS during the annual registration window, typically in March. If your start date needs to align with October 1, work backward with your recruiter early so Adobe's legal team can meet that deadline.
Ask about TN or E-3 eligibility if you qualify
Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status, and Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, both of which bypass the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your eligibility early so Adobe's team can pursue the right category for your petition.

Find Software Architect at Adobe JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Adobe sponsor H-1B visas for Software Architects?
Yes, Adobe sponsors H-1B visas for Software Architect roles. Software architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which means Adobe can support both cap-subject petitions for new hires and cap-exempt transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status. Your recruiter can confirm the process specific to your team and start date.
How do I apply for Software Architect jobs at Adobe?
You can browse current Software Architect openings through Adobe's careers site or use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Adobe roles that offer visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to Adobe's product areas, such as Adobe Experience Platform, Creative Cloud infrastructure, or Document Cloud services, since architecture roles vary significantly by product group.
Which visa types does Adobe commonly use for Software Architect roles?
Adobe sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3. For Software Architect positions, H-1B is the most common path for non-lottery-exempt candidates, while E-3 and TN offer faster timelines for Australian and Canadian or Mexican nationals respectively, both bypassing the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Adobe expect for Software Architect roles?
Adobe's Software Architect positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Beyond the degree, roles generally expect deep experience with distributed systems, cloud architecture (Adobe runs heavily on Microsoft Azure), and the ability to lead technical direction across engineering teams. Hands-on experience with Adobe's own platform ecosystem is a differentiator in competitive pools.
How do I time the visa process when pursuing a Software Architect role at Adobe?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT candidates should confirm their authorization period covers the target start date, ideally with STEM OPT extension options in play. Cap-subject H-1B candidates need an October 1 start date at the earliest, meaning an offer by late February to enter the March USCIS registration window. TN and E-3 candidates can move faster, sometimes within a few weeks of an offer.
