Align your portfolio to Adobe's product lines
Adobe hires Senior SDEs around specific platforms: Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Document Cloud. Tailor your GitHub projects and system design examples to distributed systems, media processing, or customer data infrastructure rather than presenting general-purpose engineering work.
Verify your degree field matches specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning your degree must directly relate to the position. For Adobe SDE roles, computer science, software engineering, or closely related fields satisfy this. A business or unrelated STEM degree can create complications even with strong coding credentials.
Target Adobe's university and intern-to-full-time pipeline
Adobe actively converts F-1 OPT candidates from its internship pipeline into full-time sponsored hires. If you're on OPT, applying to the internship program at the Senior level through Adobe's careers portal puts you in a conversion track with built-in sponsorship infrastructure already in place.
Time your application around H-1B cap season
Adobe files H-1B cap petitions each April for an October 1 start. If you're finishing OPT or a current visa is expiring, target offer acceptance by January or February so your employer has time to prepare USCIS filings before the April 1 registration window opens.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Adobe SDE roles requiring sponsorship
Filtering job boards for sponsorship-friendly roles manually is slow and unreliable. Migrate Mate surfaces Senior Software Development Engineer openings at Adobe and similar technology companies that actively support visa candidates, saving you from applying where sponsorship is uncertain.
Prepare for Adobe's PERM labor certification requirements early
If you're pursuing a Green Card through Adobe via the EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, DOL's PERM process requires your employer to document recruitment efforts and prevailing wage compliance. Ask your recruiter about Adobe's internal immigration counsel early in negotiations, since PERM timelines run 12 to 24 months.

Find Senior Software Development Engineer at Adobe JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Adobe sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Development Engineers?
Yes, Adobe sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Development Engineers. Adobe works with experienced immigration counsel and has established internal processes for preparing and filing H-1B cap petitions each April. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, Adobe can also file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start work once USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Senior Software Development Engineer jobs at Adobe?
Applications go through Adobe's careers portal at adobe.com/careers. Search by role title and filter for engineering positions. The interview process typically includes an initial recruiter screen, a technical phone screen covering data structures and algorithms, and a virtual onsite with system design and coding rounds. Migrate Mate also lists Adobe SDE openings filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility, which makes it easier to identify roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Which visa types does Adobe commonly use for Senior Software Development Engineers?
Adobe sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for Senior Software Development Engineers at the nonimmigrant level. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3, which has no lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying STEM roles can use TN status. For permanent residence, Adobe supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Adobe expect for a Senior Software Development Engineer role?
Adobe Senior SDE roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or software engineering plus several years of industry experience. Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, or similar languages is expected, along with hands-on experience building distributed systems or cloud-native services. Familiarity with Adobe's product ecosystem, including Experience Platform or Creative Cloud infrastructure, strengthens your application significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Adobe as a Senior SDE?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap cases require winning the USCIS lottery in April with an October 1 start, so plan for a six-month gap between offer and start date. H-1B transfers for candidates already in status move faster, often within two to four weeks of USCIS receipt. E-3 and TN visas processed at a U.S. consulate can sometimes be obtained within a few weeks of receiving your offer letter and supporting documents.
