Position: Biomedical Equipment Technician, Intern
JOB SUMMARY:
Interns will experience a simulated full time employment situation in a career as a BMET. Part of college education, 5 to 10 week internship. Shadowing BMET’s performing inspections, preventative maintenance and repairing of medical equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
A. Administrative

Observes/shadows equipment inspections using company-approved procedures, equipment, and documentation.

Capable of documenting technical data in AssetManager System.
B. Technical
- Operates basic test equipment, such as multimeters, ECG simulator, and electrical safety analyzers.
- Performs simple electronic component removal and replacement.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics. Demonstrates proper and effective use of test equipment, input simulators, and hand tools.
- Course education on basic medical devices and human anatomy.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred majors: Biomedical Equipment Technology and Electronics Engineering
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. to chest height unassisted and 60 lbs. assisted.
- Must possess the necessary dexterity normally associated with electro-mechanical repair skills.
- Must be willing and able to work with potentially harmful/irritating chemicals.

Must be able to read and write English and communicate effectively with hospital staff, vendors, manufacturers, and corporate staff.
