Clarify your CPA or EA credentials early
Jobot fills Tax Specialist roles across client sites with varying licensing requirements. Before applying, confirm whether your CPA license or Enrolled Agent status is active and transferable to the target state, since clients may reject candidates mid-process over this.
Target roles aligned with your degree field
H-1B and TN sponsorship for Tax Specialists requires your degree to match the role's specialty. A finance or accounting degree supports most tax positions, but a general business degree may not clear USCIS's specialty occupation threshold without additional documentation.
Ask Jobot directly which client is the petitioner
In staffing arrangements, the end client, not Jobot, is sometimes the H-1B petitioner. Confirm this before accepting an offer, because the petitioner determines which employer's Prevailing Wage and LCA conditions govern your role.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Tax Specialist listings
Jobot posts Tax Specialist openings across multiple geographies and client types. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're not spending time on listings where sponsorship isn't confirmed.
Understand how F-1 OPT timing affects your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, STEM OPT extensions give you up to 36 months of work authorization. Coordinate your start date carefully with Jobot, since an H-1B cap-subject filing needs to be submitted before your OPT expires to bridge the gap.
Prepare a consistent employment history for the LCA filing
The DOL's Labor Condition Application requires your employer to certify your worksite location and wage level. Tax Specialists placed at client sites should confirm the worksite address with Jobot before the LCA is submitted, since mid-certification changes cause delays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Specialists?
Jobot does sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Specialist roles, though sponsorship availability depends on the specific client engagement and role requirements. Because Jobot operates as a staffing firm, the end client may be listed as the H-1B petitioner rather than Jobot itself. Confirm the petitioner arrangement and LCA worksite details directly with your recruiter before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Tax Specialist jobs at Jobot?
You can find and apply for Tax Specialist positions at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter specifically for roles with visa sponsorship confirmed. Jobot recruiters typically move quickly through initial screening, so having your resume, credentials, and immigration status documentation ready before you apply speeds up the process significantly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Tax Specialist roles at Jobot?
The most common visa types for Tax Specialist roles at Jobot are H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in accounting or finance-related roles and require no USCIS petition, making them faster to arrange. H-1B is the standard path for most other nationalities. F-1 OPT is typically a bridge while H-1B sponsorship is arranged.
What qualifications does Jobot expect for sponsored Tax Specialist roles?
Most Tax Specialist roles at Jobot require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with relevant experience in corporate or public tax. CPA licensure or active progress toward it strengthens your candidacy. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role's tax function to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I time my application around H-1B cap deadlines?
H-1B cap registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, you'll need Jobot to file your H-1B petition well before your OPT expires. USCIS premium processing can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days, which is worth discussing with Jobot's recruiting team if your authorization timeline is tight.
