Verify Your Credentials Meet State Licensing Requirements
Jobot fills roles across multiple states, each with its own medical licensing board and timeline. Confirm your ECFMG certification and state medical license are current before applying, since clinical employers won't move to sponsorship without them in hand.
Target Jobot Roles With Direct Employer Clients
Jobot operates as a staffing intermediary, so the end clinical employer typically holds the H-1B petition, not Jobot itself. Ask your recruiter early whether the placement is with a hospital system or clinic that has an established USCIS filing relationship.
Align Your Application Timeline With Cap Season
H-1B cap filings open each April for October 1 start dates. If you're targeting a cap-subject position through Jobot, your offer and LCA filing with the DOL need to be completed well before the March registration window closes.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Jobot Medical Doctor Openings
Browse Medical Doctor listings at Jobot filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. This surfaces active roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, saving you the back-and-forth of asking individual recruiters about immigration support upfront.
Clarify Whether the Role Qualifies for TN Status
Canadian and Mexican physicians can bypass the H-1B lottery entirely under the TN visa category, which has no cap and can be processed at the border. Confirm with Jobot's recruiter that the specific physician role and specialty align with the USMCA TN occupation list.
Request a Written Sponsorship Commitment Before Resigning
Staffing placements can shift if a client pulls a requisition. Before leaving a current role or letting OPT authorization expire, get written confirmation from the end employer through Jobot that the petition filing will proceed on the agreed timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Medical Doctor roles, though the petition is typically filed by the end clinical employer rather than Jobot directly. Because Jobot acts as a staffing intermediary, sponsorship availability depends on the specific hospital, clinic, or health system filling the role. Ask your Jobot recruiter which entity will serve as the H-1B petitioner before you progress through the interview process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Medical Doctor roles at Jobot?
H-1B is the most common pathway for internationally trained physicians placed through Jobot, since Medical Doctor qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a specific degree. Canadian and Mexican physicians can use the TN visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap. F-1 OPT has also been used for recent graduates completing their authorization period before transitioning to another status.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Medical Doctor roles at Jobot?
Clinical employers working with Jobot generally require an MD or DO degree, ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, and an active or pending state medical license in the relevant jurisdiction. Most permanent physician placements expect completed residency training, and many specify board certification or board eligibility in the advertised specialty. Locum tenens roles through Jobot may have more flexible credentialing timelines.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at Jobot?
You can search and apply for Medical Doctor positions at Jobot directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship so you can confirm immigration support before reaching out. Once you submit your application, a Jobot recruiter typically contacts you to discuss the specific placement, the end employer, and whether the role supports your visa category. Having your credentials and licensing documents organized in advance speeds the process significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Medical Doctor role through Jobot?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. H-1B sponsorship through a cap-subject employer runs roughly six to eight months from DOL Labor Condition Application filing through USCIS approval and an October 1 start date. TN status can be obtained at a Canadian or Mexican port of entry in a single day with the right documentation. Regardless of category, the clinical employer needs to initiate paperwork before your current work authorization expires, so flag your situation to your Jobot recruiter early.
