Tips for Finding Corporate Counsel Jobs at Jobot
Frame Your Legal Background Around Staffing Compliance
Jobot's Corporate Counsel roles center on staffing industry issues: independent contractor classification, co-employment risk, and state wage-hour compliance. Tailor your resume to show direct experience with these areas, not just general corporate or transactional work.
Verify Your Visa Category Matches the Role
Corporate Counsel is a specialty occupation requiring a law degree and bar admission, which supports H-1B eligibility. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date gives Jobot enough runway to file an H-1B petition before your authorization lapses.
Target Jobot's High-Volume Posting Periods
Jobot posts Corporate Counsel openings continuously across multiple states, often reflecting internal headcount growth rather than backfill hiring. Applying when a cluster of similar postings appears signals active team expansion and higher likelihood of sponsorship approval from leadership.
Raise Sponsorship Before the Offer Stage
Staffing firms move fast in hiring. Bring up your visa status during the second or third interview round, not after a verbal offer. This prevents late-stage fallout if the specific Jobot entity handling your hire hasn't sponsored that visa type before.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Jobot's Sponsored Openings
Not every Jobot Corporate Counsel listing is tied to a sponsoring entity. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Jobot roles verified for H-1B or OPT sponsorship, so you're applying to postings where the infrastructure to file already exists.
Understand the LCA Requirement for Your Practice State
Because Jobot operates nationally, your LCA filed with DOL must reflect the actual work location, not Jobot's headquarters. If your role covers multiple offices or you work remotely, clarify the prevailing wage determination state before your employer submits the USCIS petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Corporate Counsels?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Corporate Counsel roles. Because Corporate Counsel requires a Juris Doctor and active bar admission, it qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. That said, sponsorship decisions are made at the hiring entity level, so confirm during interviews that your specific Jobot office has the process in place.
Which visa types are commonly used for Corporate Counsel roles at Jobot?
H-1B is the most common path for Corporate Counsel roles at Jobot, given the degree and licensure requirements that satisfy specialty occupation criteria. F-1 OPT is also used for recent law school graduates, typically as a bridge while an H-1B petition is prepared. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican attorneys meeting USMCA criteria.
What qualifications does Jobot expect for Corporate Counsel roles?
Jobot's Corporate Counsel openings in the staffing and recruiting industry typically require a Juris Doctor, active bar admission in at least one U.S. state, and experience with employment law or commercial contracts. Familiarity with staffing-specific legal issues, such as co-employment liability, independent contractor compliance, and state wage-hour regulations, meaningfully strengthens your candidacy.
How do I apply for Corporate Counsel jobs at Jobot?
You can find Corporate Counsel openings at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on listings that won't support your immigration status. Once you identify a fit, apply directly through Jobot's careers page or the job posting. Be prepared to discuss your bar admission status and visa timeline early in the process.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap cycle?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, with the lottery registration window opening in March. If you're on F-1 OPT, your application timeline should account for the 60-day grace period after OPT expiration. Starting conversations with Jobot's legal hiring team by January gives enough lead time to align an offer with USCIS filing deadlines.
