INTRODUCTION
Lambda, The Superintelligence Cloud, is a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers. Our customers range from AI researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers. Lambda's mission is to make compute as ubiquitous as electricity and give everyone the power of superintelligence. One person, one GPU.
If you'd like to build the world's best AI cloud, join us.
Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco/San Jose office location 4 days per week; Lambda’s designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.
Lambda is building the cloud for AI. Tens of thousands of researchers, startups, and enterprises rely on Lambda to provision GPUs, train models, and run production AI workloads. The Console is the front door to Lambda’s cloud. It is where customers provision clusters, manage GPUs, configure networking, control identity, and monitor usage and billing. As Lambda expands into enterprise and dedicated region offerings, the Console becomes increasingly strategic.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Console Experience team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will lead a team of frontend and full-stack engineers responsible for Lambda’s customer-facing cloud console and related API integrations. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be responsible for execution, team health, and technical direction while staying close to architecture and design decisions. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, API Experience, Billing, Control Plane, Support and Platform teams to translate complex infrastructure capabilities into intuitive, reliable workflows for customers. This role is ideal for someone who has led a team before and wants to grow into a broader platform and organizational ownership over time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead and grow a team of ~4–6 engineers focused on Lambda’s cloud console
- Own execution of roadmap initiatives across identity, billing, cluster lifecycle, support and governance workflows
- Partner closely with Product and Design to define clear scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs
- Drive architectural decisions around frontend systems, API integration, and performance
- Ensure high standards for quality, reliability, and maintainability
- Balance shipping velocity with foundational improvements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Control Plane, Billing, Support and Platform teams to deliver cohesive experiences
- Mentor engineers and help them grow technically and professionally
- Contribute to a culture of documentation, ownership, and accountability
YOU
- 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Built or led customer-facing web applications, ideally in SaaS, cloud, or infrastructure environments
- Comfortable reviewing and reasoning about frontend and backend code (React, TypeScript, APIs, etc.)
- Can drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces
- Care about user experience, even when building infrastructure-heavy systems
- Comfortable navigating cross-team dependencies in a fast-moving environment
- Experience balancing roadmap delivery with operational and technical debt work
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience building cloud console interfaces
- Experience working in a high-growth startup
- Exposure to enterprise customers or governance features

Align your credentials to GPU infrastructure work
Lambda's Engineering roles center on GPU clusters, networking hardware, and compute systems. Frame your resume around low-level systems work, hardware bring-up, or distributed compute, not just software engineering broadly. Specificity here directly improves your chances of reaching the interview stage.
Target roles posted across multiple engineering disciplines
Lambda hires across firmware, systems, and infrastructure engineering. If one role closes or moves slowly, related postings often share the same sponsorship pipeline. Monitoring the full Engineering category gives you more entry points into the same sponsorship process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Lambda's sponsored Engineering openings
Lambda's Engineering job listings don't always specify sponsorship eligibility upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Lambda's current openings by visa type, so you're only spending time on roles where H-1B, OPT, or TN sponsorship is confirmed available.
Clarify TN eligibility before negotiating your offer
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Engineering disciplines may be eligible for TN status, which doesn't require USCIS approval or lottery selection. Confirm your specific job title maps to a NAFTA-recognized TN category before the offer stage, since not all engineering titles qualify.
Prepare for a technical screen grounded in hardware systems
Lambda's Engineering interviews are heavily technical and often include systems design questions specific to compute infrastructure. Gaps in low-level hardware or networking knowledge can surface late in the process, potentially complicating the timeline for initiating your visa filing.
Understand how OPT cap-gap protects you during H-1B processing
If you're on F-1 OPT when Lambda files your H-1B petition, the cap-gap provision automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 if your OPT expires before your H-1B takes effect. USCIS determines your cap-gap eligibility, so track your I-20 end date carefully before your start date.

Find Engineering at Lambda JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lambda sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Lambda has sponsored H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Sponsorship is most common for specialized positions in GPU infrastructure, systems engineering, and hardware-adjacent software roles. Lambda initiates the H-1B process on the employee's behalf, including the DOL Labor Condition Application filing, but sponsorship is role-specific and not guaranteed across every open position.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Lambda?
Applications go through Lambda's careers page, where Engineering roles are listed by discipline. Before applying, confirm the role lists visa sponsorship as available, since not all postings do. Migrate Mate lets you filter Lambda's current Engineering openings specifically by visa type, so you can focus on roles where your status, whether H-1B, OPT, or TN, is supported.
Which visa types does Lambda commonly use for Engineering hires?
Lambda has sponsored H-1B visas for Engineering positions and works with candidates on F-1 OPT. TN status is a viable path for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines, as it bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. The right visa type depends on your citizenship, your specific role title, and where you are in your current authorization period.
What qualifications does Lambda expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Lambda's sponsored Engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field, which also satisfies H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Practical experience with GPU systems, distributed hardware infrastructure, or low-level firmware development carries significant weight alongside formal credentials.
How do I time my application around H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March for an October 1 start date. If Lambda selects you and you clear interviews by late winter, there's enough runway to complete the DOL Labor Condition Application and file before the cap closes. Missing that window means waiting a full year, so targeting Lambda's Engineering roles in the fall and winter hiring cycle gives you the best timing.
