Align your credentials to U.S. construction standards
Construction roles at Mastec Civil often require licensure or certifications recognized in the U.S., such as OSHA safety credentials. If your qualifications are from outside the country, get a formal equivalency evaluation before you apply so hiring managers aren't left guessing.
Target civil infrastructure openings specifically
Mastec Civil's Construction hiring centers on civil and utility infrastructure work. Filter your search toward project management, field engineering, and site supervision roles rather than general construction postings. Use Migrate Mate to browse open Construction positions at Mastec Civil filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility.
Understand how TN eligibility applies to your role
If you're Canadian or Mexican, the TN visa is available for certain engineering and technical roles within Construction. Confirm that your specific job title and degree field meet the DOL's defined TN occupation list before framing your application around that pathway.
Start OPT paperwork well before your offer stage
F-1 students targeting Construction roles at Mastec Civil should request their OPT Employment Authorization Document from their Designated School Official at least 90 days before their intended start date. USCIS processing can take several weeks, and delays can push back your start date.
Ask directly about the I-129 filing timeline in interviews
For H-1B transfers or new petitions, Mastec Civil's HR team controls when the I-129 is filed with USCIS. Ask during the offer stage whether they use premium processing, since standard processing timelines can extend several months and affect your ability to start on time.
Prepare a project portfolio that reflects field complexity
Mastec Civil evaluates Construction candidates on demonstrated project scope, not just job titles. Document the scale, location, and technical complexity of past projects you've managed or contributed to. This gives immigration counsel clearer grounds when building the specialty occupation case for your petition.

Find Construction at Mastec Civil JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mastec Civil sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Mastec Civil has sponsored H-1B visas for Construction positions. The H-1B requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it typically demands at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. For Construction roles, this usually means engineering or construction management credentials. Your employer files the H-1B petition with USCIS on your behalf after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Mastec Civil?
You can browse and apply for Construction roles at Mastec Civil directly through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect civil infrastructure experience relevant to Mastec Civil's project work, and be upfront about your visa situation early in the process to avoid delays later.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction roles at Mastec Civil?
Mastec Civil sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Construction positions and supports F-1 students through both OPT and CPT work authorization. Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible technical or engineering roles may also pursue the TN visa pathway. The right visa depends on your citizenship, degree field, and the specific role you're targeting within their Construction team.
What qualifications does Mastec Civil expect for Construction positions?
Construction roles at Mastec Civil typically require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, along with hands-on experience in civil or utility infrastructure projects. Field-specific certifications such as OSHA 30 are commonly expected. Roles with visa sponsorship tend to skew toward project engineering, site supervision, and project management functions rather than purely manual trade positions.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to Construction roles at Mastec Civil with enough runway for USCIS to process an H-1B petition before your OPT expires. H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, so timing your offer and filing around the March registration window is critical. Discuss the timeline explicitly with your recruiter during the offer stage to avoid any authorization gaps.
