Tailor your resume to semiconductor QA
Micron's Software Quality Engineer roles sit at the intersection of firmware, memory systems, and test automation. Highlight experience with NAND or DRAM validation, defect lifecycle tools like Jira or Polarion, and any work with silicon bring-up or embedded test frameworks.
Target Boise, Folsom, and San Jose openings
Micron's U.S. engineering hubs each have distinct quality engineering teams. Boise handles core memory product lines, while Folsom and San Jose skew toward SSD and storage software. Applying to locations aligned with your specialization improves your chances of clearing the technical screen.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before your phone screen
Micron distinguishes between roles open to H-1B transfers and roles requiring cap-subject filing. Ask the recruiter early whether the position is cap-exempt or subject to the annual lottery so you can plan your timeline around the April registration window.
Align your credentials with DOL specialty occupation standards
Software Quality Engineer petitions at hardware companies sometimes draw USCIS scrutiny over whether the role meets specialty occupation criteria. A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or software engineering maps most cleanly to Micron's job descriptions and strengthens the I-129 filing.
Browse verified Micron openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering for Software Quality Engineer roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to surface current Micron postings confirmed for H-1B sponsorship so you're applying to positions where international candidates are genuinely considered.
Understand Micron's Green Card timeline for this role
Micron sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Software Quality Engineers, but PERM labor certification adds 18 to 24 months before an I-140 is filed. Candidates from India face multi-year backlogs in the EB-3 category, so factor this into your long-term work authorization planning.

Find Software Quality Engineer at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap registration process each March and also supports H-1B transfers for candidates already holding valid status. Roles tied to memory product validation, test automation, and firmware quality assurance have historically been included in Micron's sponsorship scope.
Which visa types does Micron Technology use for Software Quality Engineer roles?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for nonimmigrant work authorization, covering most Software Quality Engineer positions. For permanent residence, the company files EB-2 and EB-3 petitions through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL. The appropriate category depends on the role's degree requirements and your country of birth for priority date purposes.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for Software Quality Engineers?
Most Software Quality Engineer openings at Micron require a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Practical experience with test automation frameworks, defect tracking systems, and hardware-software integration is expected. Familiarity with memory technologies such as NAND flash or DRAM is a meaningful differentiator, especially for roles within Micron's storage and memory product groups.
How do I apply for Software Quality Engineer jobs at Micron Technology?
You can apply directly through Micron's careers portal or browse verified sponsorship-confirmed openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where international candidates are actively considered. Before applying, confirm whether the specific posting supports visa sponsorship, as not every Software Quality Engineer role at Micron is open to H-1B candidates. Tailoring your application to the product line, whether memory, SSD, or compute storage, improves your chances of reaching the technical screen.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Micron Technology?
The H-1B cap registration window opens each March, with employment typically starting October 1 if selected. To meet that window, you need an offer and a completed I-129 petition ready before the registration deadline. Starting your job search at Micron in the preceding fall gives you enough runway to clear interviews, receive an offer, and work with Micron's immigration team before the USCIS registration opens.
