Align your experience to semiconductor QA
Lam Research's QA roles center on equipment reliability and process validation for semiconductor manufacturing. Tailor your resume to highlight test automation frameworks, defect lifecycle management, and hardware-software integration testing relevant to capital equipment or fab environments.
Target Fremont and Portland engineering sites
Lam Research's core engineering and QA operations are concentrated at specific campuses. Focusing your applications on Fremont and Portland postings increases your chances of landing a role within teams that have established international hiring and sponsorship workflows.
Use Migrate Mate to find open QA roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter Software Quality Engineer openings at Lam Research by visa sponsorship type. This saves time by surfacing only roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not cold-applying to postings without sponsorship clarity.
Prepare for PERM timing if targeting permanent residency
Lam Research sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineering roles. PERM labor certification through DOL can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the I-140 petition, so clarify the company's green card initiation policy during negotiations.

Find Software Quality Engineer at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery, so timing your offer and petition filing relative to the April 1 USCIS filing window matters. If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, your employer will need to file before your OPT authorization expires to maintain continuous work authorization.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly sponsor for Software Quality Engineer roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for Software Quality Engineers. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. Green Card sponsorship typically begins after a period of H-1B employment and involves PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor.
How do I apply for Software Quality Engineer jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. Use Migrate Mate to find open Software Quality Engineer roles at Lam Research filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify relevant postings before applying directly. When applying, highlight experience in test strategy, defect tracking tools, and any background in semiconductor or capital equipment environments, since those align closely with Lam Research's QA function.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Software Quality Engineer candidates?
Lam Research typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Practical experience with test automation, software-hardware integration testing, and quality methodologies like FMEA or ISO standards is valued. Familiarity with semiconductor equipment software or embedded systems testing strengthens an application significantly for this specific function at Lam Research.
How do I manage my visa timeline during the Lam Research hiring process?
Communicate your current immigration status to your recruiter early. If you're on a 60-day grace period between jobs, USCIS allows you to maintain status while a new petition is pending under certain conditions, but timing is tight. For H-1B transfers from another employer, Lam Research can file a portability petition that lets you start work upon receipt notice rather than waiting for approval.
