This vast list of project experience includes services for virtually every type of public and private client associated with industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects.
ROLE
STAFF ENGINEER
Our West Palm Beach office has an opportunity for staff engineer to work on a wide range of geotechnical engineering, construction material testing/quality control, and environmental assessment projects including planning and supervising field and laboratory testing, conducting geotechnical analyses, developing design and construction recommendations, writing reports and performing site reconnaissance, field testing and monitoring. The goal for this position is for the right candidate to work primarily in the construction material testing/quality control department. That would entail site kick-off meetings at the beginning of construction projects and monitoring activities (such as installation of augercast piles, helical piers, ground modification, driven piles, vibration monitoring, etc.) and writing the certification report for those activities to be reviewed and signed by a PE. You will also have the opportunity to learn and work on geotechnical engineering projects (drilling coordination, soil classification, report preparation, foundation design, etc.) as well as environmental assessments (Phase I and Phase II assessments).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be technically superior and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with relevant coursework and achieved Engineering Intern (EI) status. A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering specializing in geotechnical engineering would be a plus.
BENEFITS
We offer a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with company match, and much more.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified candidates will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristic protected by law. Ardaman is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tetra Tech, who is a VEVRAA federal contractor and we request priority referral of veterans. Ardaman is a Drug Free Workplace.

Align your credentials to federal project requirements
Tetra Tech delivers heavily on government contracts, so certifications like ISTQB or experience with compliance-driven QA frameworks matter here. Translate your testing background into language that reflects regulated environments, not just commercial software.
Research which Tetra Tech divisions actively hire QA
Tetra Tech's work spans environmental consulting, data analytics, and federal IT services. Software Quality Engineer openings cluster in its digital and government solutions groups, so target those divisions directly rather than applying broadly across the company.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship
Tetra Tech posts Software Quality Engineer roles across multiple locations and project types. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for positions where visa sponsorship is available, so you're not guessing which postings are viable before you apply.
Clarify OPT and CPT authorization timing with your recruiter
If you're on F-1 status, Tetra Tech's federal contract work can affect where and how you're placed. Confirm early whether your OPT authorization covers the specific project site, since some government facility access requirements add screening steps before your start date.
Understand what H-1B filing timelines mean for your start date
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer after the lottery, premium processing through USCIS can shorten adjudication to around 15 business days, which matters if Tetra Tech has a project deadline tied to your onboarding.
Prepare documentation that supports specialty occupation classification
For H-1B approval, USCIS must find your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. For a Software Quality Engineer, bring degree transcripts showing a technical major and any job descriptions that specify degree requirements, since consulting firms sometimes receive scrutiny on QA role classifications.

Find Software Quality Engineer at Tetra Tech JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Tetra Tech sponsor H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers?
Yes, Tetra Tech sponsors H-1B visas for Software Quality Engineers. The company operates in technical consulting and government services where specialized QA skills are in demand, and it has a history of filing H-1B petitions for engineering roles. Your best starting point is confirming sponsorship availability directly in the job posting or during the recruiter screening call.
How do I apply for Software Quality Engineer jobs at Tetra Tech?
Applications go through Tetra Tech's careers portal, where you can filter by role and location. Before applying, identify which division the role sits in, since QA positions tied to federal IT or data programs tend to have clearer sponsorship pathways. Migrate Mate also surfaces Tetra Tech's open Software Quality Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which saves time if you need employer support to work in the U.S.
Which visa types does Tetra Tech commonly use for Software Quality Engineer roles?
Tetra Tech sponsors H-1B visas for full-time Software Quality Engineer positions and accommodates F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates in qualifying roles. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain technical classifications. J-1 sponsorship is less common but has been used for specific exchange or training arrangements within the company.
What qualifications does Tetra Tech expect for a Software Quality Engineer role?
Most Software Quality Engineer postings at Tetra Tech require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, defect tracking tools, and documented QA processes is consistently expected. For roles supporting government projects, familiarity with compliance standards such as Section 508 or federal security testing protocols gives your application a concrete advantage.
How do I time my application around H-1B sponsorship at Tetra Tech?
USCIS runs H-1B registration once a year in March, with an October 1 employment start for selected candidates. If you receive an offer in the fall or winter, Tetra Tech can file your petition in time for the next cap season. For candidates already on OPT with a valid authorization period, work can begin before the H-1B takes effect, which gives both sides more scheduling flexibility.
