- Is eager to solve tough problems
- Has some experience rolling out features to a large product with existing customers
- Has excellent communication skills
- Is curious, collaborative, and motivated
SUCCESS MEASURES
- In 3 months, you'll have shipped code into production and collaborated with the team to solve tough problems
- In 6 months, you'll have contributed to a large project
- In 12 months, you'll have designed new features, led development work, and become a go-to expert on parts of the system

Align your experience to MongoDB's cloud stack
MongoDB's cloud engineering roles center on Atlas, distributed systems, and Kubernetes-based infrastructure. Tailor your resume and portfolio to reflect hands-on work with these technologies before applying, since screeners look for direct platform relevance.
Target roles flagged as open to sponsorship
Not every Cloud Software Engineer posting at a large tech company leads to a sponsored offer. Use Migrate Mate to filter MongoDB's openings specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you're only investing time in applications that are actually viable.
Prepare your LCA documentation in advance
For H-1B and E-3 offers, MongoDB's legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your petition can move forward. Understanding what the LCA certifies, prevailing wage level and working conditions, helps you validate your offer and avoid surprises.
Map your degree field to your target role
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree and the specialty occupation. For cloud engineering roles, a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field carries the strongest case. A mismatched degree can trigger a Request for Evidence even at sponsor-friendly employers.

Find Cloud Software Engineer at MongoDB JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MongoDB sponsor H-1B visas for Cloud Software Engineers?
Yes, MongoDB sponsors H-1B visas for Cloud Software Engineer roles. The process requires MongoDB to file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your I-129 petition to USCIS. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing matters. MongoDB typically initiates sponsorship paperwork well ahead of the April filing window for roles with confirmed start dates.
How do I apply for Cloud Software Engineer jobs at MongoDB?
Applications go through MongoDB's careers portal. Most Cloud Software Engineer roles follow a structured process: an initial recruiter screen, a technical phone interview, and a multi-stage virtual onsite covering systems design, coding, and distributed systems concepts. If you need visa sponsorship, flag that early in the recruiter conversation so MongoDB's immigration team can assess your category and timeline before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does MongoDB commonly use for Cloud Software Engineers?
MongoDB sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and moves faster than H-1B since it has no lottery. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. Which category applies depends on your citizenship and degree, so align that with recruiting before the offer stage.
What qualifications does MongoDB expect for Cloud Software Engineer roles?
MongoDB's cloud engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, combined with hands-on experience in distributed systems, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and languages like Go, C++, or Java. For USCIS purposes, your degree field needs a demonstrable connection to the specific role. Practical experience with database internals or Kubernetes-based infrastructure is a consistent signal in their job descriptions.
How do I find Cloud Software Engineer roles at MongoDB that offer visa sponsorship?
Not every job posting makes sponsorship status obvious, which makes it easy to spend time on applications that won't lead anywhere. Migrate Mate filters MongoDB's Cloud Software Engineer openings to surface only roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you can focus your applications on positions that are actually a fit for your immigration situation before you start the interview process.
