ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a team of high-output generalists where ML and systems engineering converge to push autonomy performance forward. As a Senior Perception ML Data Infrastructure Engineer, you will own the critical bridge between our autonomous vehicle hardware, our human labeling operations, and our ML models.
You will take ownership of our core native perception data platform. This is not a standard web development role; the stack is deeply adjacent to our core robotics infrastructure. You will be dealing with massive, dense 3D point clouds at a scale that pushes the boundaries of industry state-of-the-art, alongside complex sensor parsing, pipeline propagation, and rigid performance constraints. You will operate in highly ambiguous environments, inheriting complex systems, establishing strict API boundaries, and building the "good enough, fast enough" infrastructure that guarantees our ML models learn from high-quality data.
Design and advance systems that:
- Render and manipulate massive, multi-modal sensor datasets (Lidar, Camera, Radar) efficiently in UI environments.
- Parse raw sensor data and manage complex data pipeline propagation between onboard hardware logs and offboard visualization.
- Enforce strict data validation and annotation constraints to prevent upstream labeling errors from polluting downstream ML pipelines.
- Create seamless, resilient API boundaries between our ML data pipelines and our Ground Truth/Data Platform infrastructure.
TAILOR YOUR IMPACT
- The Critical Path Owner: You will step into a complex, evolving ecosystem, quickly bring order to ambiguity, unblock critical operational bottlenecks, and architect sustainable long-term solutions that empower the entire Autonomy organization.
- High-Velocity Impact: You optimize the engineering lifecycle for autonomy progress. You know the exact trade-off between over-engineering a system and deploying a highly performant, pragmatic integration that keeps our data pipelines flowing.
ABOUT THE WORK
You’ll solve autonomy’s hardest data bottlenecks through systems rigor and infrastructure excellence:
- Architect Core Data Platforms: Take formal technical ownership of our native, C++ based perception data visualization and annotation platforms.
- Optimize 3D Rendering & Robotics Data: Solve deep performance bottlenecks related to rendering next-generation, high-density Lidar point clouds and multi-camera projections in real-time.
- Defensive Engineering: Build robust data validation layers that catch sensor calibration errors, synchronization failures, and human labeling mistakes before they enter the ML training loop.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the technical bridge between ML, Data and Infrastructure engineers, and labeling operations.
ABOUT YOU
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 4+ years of industry software engineering experience.
- Language Fluency: Fluency in C++ and strong familiarity with Python are non-negotiable.
- Ambiguity Navigator: Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical projects, bring order to complex codebases, and drive them to completion in ambiguous settings.
- Systems Thinker: You possess deep practical experience in building robust, high-performance software systems or infrastructure. You care more about shipping integrated, impactful solutions than theoretical experimentation.
- (Bonus) Robotics Expertise: Deep familiarity with robotics software stacks, sensor parsing, coordinate frames, and pipeline propagation.
- (Bonus) Familiarity with 3D graphics/rendering: (WebGL, OpenGL), point cloud processing, or autonomous driving sensor data.
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $193,930.00 and $291,150.00/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
At Nuro, we celebrate differences and are committed to a diverse workplace that fosters inclusion and psychological safety for all employees. Nuro is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and expressly prohibits any form of workplace discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristics.

Align your portfolio to autonomous systems data
Nuro's Analytics Engineering work centers on sensor data, fleet telemetry, and operational metrics. Before applying, build portfolio projects or document experience with large-scale time-series or event-driven datasets so your background maps directly to their stack.
Target roles that require dbt or Airflow proficiency
Nuro's job postings for Analytics Engineers consistently surface orchestration and transformation tooling. Tailoring your resume and technical screen prep to these specific tools puts you ahead of candidates with generic data engineering backgrounds.
Negotiate an offer timeline around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS's registration window opens in March for an October start. Request that Nuro's offer letter and I-129 preparation begin no later than February to avoid missing the annual cap lottery.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Analytics Engineer openings at Nuro
Nuro posts across multiple job boards, and not all listings flag sponsorship eligibility clearly. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsored roles, letting you identify active Analytics Engineer positions at Nuro without manually screening each posting.
Request LCA details before signing your offer
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirming the prevailing wage level and work location on the LCA protects you from compliance gaps that could delay or invalidate your filing.

Find Analytics Engineer at Nuro JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Nuro sponsor H-1B visas for Analytics Engineers?
Yes, Nuro sponsors H-1B visas for Analytics Engineer roles. The company has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions for technical positions across its data and engineering functions. If you're cap-subject, timing your application to align with USCIS's annual March registration window is critical, since H-1B approvals don't take effect until October 1 of that year.
How do I apply for Analytics Engineer jobs at Nuro?
Apply directly through Nuro's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse their current Analytics Engineer openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Nuro's technical interview process for this role typically includes a SQL or data modeling assessment, a system design round focused on data pipelines, and cross-functional stakeholder scenarios. Tailoring your application to autonomous vehicle data use cases strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does Nuro commonly use for Analytics Engineers?
Nuro sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Analytics Engineers. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. Canadian and Mexican nationals on TN status and recent graduates on F-1 OPT have viable paths that don't require waiting for the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Nuro expect for Analytics Engineer roles?
Nuro typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Hands-on experience with SQL, a transformation framework like dbt, and a workflow orchestrator like Airflow or Prefect is standard. Candidates who've worked with high-volume event or telemetry data, especially in robotics, autonomous systems, or real-time infrastructure, have a meaningful advantage in the hiring process.
How do I think about the sponsorship timeline for an Analytics Engineer role at Nuro?
Timeline depends heavily on your current status. F-1 OPT holders can start immediately if their EAD is active, while cap-subject H-1B candidates face an October start date after a March lottery. USCIS premium processing, which expedites adjudication to 15 business days, is available for H-1B petitions and can reduce uncertainty once the petition is filed. Discuss timeline constraints with Nuro's recruiting team early so both sides can plan accordingly.
