Align your stack to Qualcomm's platform work
Qualcomm's backend roles frequently touch low-latency media pipelines, wireless protocol stacks, and embedded service layers. Highlighting experience with C++, Rust, or platform-level systems work in your resume signals direct relevance to how their teams are structured.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your interview
Qualcomm participates in E-Verify as a federal contractor, so F-1 OPT STEM extension eligibility is protected from day one. Verify this directly through the E-Verify employer search before accepting any offer to avoid surprises with your authorization timeline.
Time your application around annual H-1B cap cycles
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Qualcomm must file by the April 1 USCIS deadline for an October 1 start. Targeting Backend Engineer openings posted between January and February gives your offer enough runway to clear the registration window.
Request an LCA preview before signing your offer
The Labor Condition Application filed with DOL locks in your prevailing wage level before USCIS sees your petition. Asking your recruiter which wage level Qualcomm intends to certify lets you catch a mismatch with your seniority before the petition is filed.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Backend Engineer roles
Qualcomm posts backend openings across multiple business units, and not all are equally sponsorship-friendly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Qualcomm Backend Engineer positions by the visa types you hold, so you target roles already aligned to your authorization category.
Prepare for a multi-round technical loop focused on systems design
Qualcomm's backend interviews for media and connectivity roles emphasize distributed systems design, API performance under constraint, and hardware-software co-design principles. Preparing concrete examples from latency-sensitive or bandwidth-intensive projects puts your experience in the right frame for their panels.

Find Backend Engineer at Qualcomm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Qualcomm sponsor H-1B visas for Backend Engineers?
Yes, Qualcomm sponsors H-1B visas for Backend Engineers and has done so consistently across its engineering divisions. As a federal contractor enrolled in E-Verify, Qualcomm is well-equipped to handle the H-1B petition process. Candidates on F-1 OPT should target roles early in the calendar year to allow enough time before the April USCIS registration deadline.
Which visa types does Qualcomm commonly sponsor for Backend Engineer roles?
Qualcomm sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Backend Engineers, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employees. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. The right visa category depends on your nationality, degree, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does Qualcomm expect for Backend Engineer positions?
Qualcomm typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. For backend roles supporting media and entertainment platforms, hands-on experience with systems programming, API design, and performance-critical infrastructure is valued. Familiarity with wireless or multimedia protocol stacks is a strong differentiator for roles tied to Qualcomm's core product lines.
How do I apply for Backend Engineer jobs at Qualcomm?
You can find and apply for Backend Engineer roles at Qualcomm through Migrate Mate, which surfaces Qualcomm's open positions filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can target roles that match your authorization. After applying, Qualcomm's process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessments, and a multi-round interview loop covering systems design and coding before any offer and sponsorship discussion.
How do I time my job search at Qualcomm around H-1B sponsorship deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. To align with this, target Qualcomm Backend Engineer openings between November and February. That window gives your recruiter time to extend an offer, prepare the Labor Condition Application with DOL, and submit the petition before the cap deadline.
