Align your credentials to Siemens engineering frameworks
Siemens Mechanical Engineer roles frequently require proficiency in specific CAD platforms, simulation tools, or automation systems like NX or SIMATIC. Tailor your resume to reflect the exact technical stack listed in the job description before you apply.
Target Siemens divisions with active engineering pipelines
Siemens staffs Mechanical Engineers across distinct business units including Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure, and Mobility. Check each division's open roles separately, as sponsorship activity and role requirements vary by business unit, not just by job title.
Prepare your STEM OPT documentation before outreach
Mechanical Engineering qualifies as a STEM field, so F-1 graduates can use a 24-month OPT extension before needing H-1B sponsorship. Have your I-20, DSO support letter, and EAD application timeline ready so you can demonstrate work authorization continuity to a recruiter.
Ask recruiters about Siemens cap-exempt filing options
During offer negotiations, ask directly whether your role could be filed as cap-exempt through a university partnership or research affiliation. Some Siemens engineering positions involve collaborative work with institutions that qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings, bypassing the April lottery entirely.
Browse Siemens Mechanical Engineer openings on Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type and role to identify active Siemens postings that match your authorization needs. Migrate Mate lets you sort Mechanical Engineer positions by sponsorship type so you can prioritize roles where Siemens has sponsored the visa category you need.
Verify your Labor Condition Application timing with your employer
DOL requires Siemens to file an LCA and post public notice at the worksite before your H-1B petition can be submitted to USCIS. Confirm with your HR contact exactly when the LCA was filed so your start date planning accounts for the full approval sequence.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Siemens JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Siemens sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Siemens sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery for most roles and has a consistent pattern of filing petitions for engineering positions across its U.S. business units. If your role involves work with a qualifying research or educational institution, a cap-exempt filing may also be possible.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Siemens?
Apply directly through Siemens' careers portal or find open roles through Migrate Mate, which filters Siemens postings by visa sponsorship type. When applying, match your resume precisely to the technical requirements listed, particularly CAD tools, simulation platforms, or automation systems. Noting your current work authorization status clearly in your application avoids early screening delays.
Which visa types does Siemens commonly use for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Siemens sponsors several visa categories for Mechanical Engineers, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering degrees, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in their final year or recent graduates. For longer-term paths, Siemens also initiates PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories.
What qualifications does Siemens expect for sponsored Mechanical Engineer positions?
Most sponsored Mechanical Engineer roles at Siemens require a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Beyond credentials, Siemens typically looks for hands-on experience with engineering simulation, product lifecycle management, or industrial automation systems. Roles in Digital Industries or Mobility divisions often require familiarity with Siemens-specific platforms such as NX, Teamcenter, or SIMATIC.
How do I plan my timeline if Siemens offers H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so an offer made in late winter or early spring maps cleanly to that cycle. USCIS processing without premium processing typically takes three to five months. If you're bridging from F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date against the H-1B timeline so there's no gap in work authorization between your OPT end date and your H-1B start date.
