Duties
- Manage and perform detailed account reconciliations within the Odoo platform, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and reports using Odoo’s reporting tools to support management decision-making.
- Conduct accounts payable and receivable activities, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections within the system.
- Maintain general ledger entries, journal postings, and double-entry bookkeeping practices aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile bank statements and perform cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and financial health.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards where applicable.
- Support internal audits by providing detailed documentation of financial transactions processed through Odoo.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the use of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for seamless financial management.
- Mentor junior team members on accounting best practices and the effective use of Odoo’s modules for accounting functions.
- Contribute to budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accountant proficient in Odoo ERP system implementation and daily operations.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting standards, and financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and accrual accounting.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate accounting practices such as balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and general ledger maintenance.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and regulatory reporting standards relevant to nonprofit or governmental organizations.
- Hands-on experience with financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis techniques including cash flow analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or PeopleSoft; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of securities law, wills/trusts & estate law is a plus but not mandatory; a strong understanding of public accounting principles is essential.
- Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail; ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately under tight deadlines.
