VP, Product Development – Furniture Division
Role Overview
Surya Inc. is seeking a proven product leader to help drive the next phase of growth for our furniture division. This role will lead product development across case goods and upholstery (indoor and outdoor), with responsibility for turning ideas into commercially successful products that reflect our brand, meet market demand, and support long-term category expansion.
This leader must bring strong product instincts, deep furniture expertise, and the ability to move decisively from concept to execution. They should be highly entrepreneurial, comfortable making decisions, and excited to build. The ideal candidate knows how to balance design, quality, speed, and cost while creating products that win in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the product development strategy for the furniture division across case goods and upholstery, aligning product direction with company goals, customer insights, market opportunities, and financial targets.
- Own the full product life cycle from concept through launch, including design intent, materials, construction, engineering, specifications, testing, costing, sample review, and final execution.
- Help define and strengthen the product point of view for the furniture business, ensuring assortments feel relevant, differentiated, and aligned with the brand.
- Drive line development and long-term category planning, balancing core business, newness, innovation, and white-space opportunities.
- Partner closely with merchandising, sourcing, and sales to identify opportunities, sharpen product direction, and bring strong ideas to market efficiently.
- Translate trend, competitive, and customer insights into actionable product strategies that lead to commercially successful launches.
- Continuously refine the product development process to improve speed to market, sample quality, execution, and cross-functional alignment.
- Work directly with sourcing teams and factory partners to evaluate capabilities, solve challenges, strengthen execution, and align resources with business needs.
- Ensure products are developed with the right balance of design, quality, manufacturability, margin, and price point.
- Collaborate with marketing, creative, and digital teams to support strong launches, product storytelling, and readiness of all product data and assets for sales and web presentation.
- Track key performance indicators across development, costing, quality, timing, and launch success, acting quickly when improvements are needed.
- Travel domestically and internationally to review development, evaluate factories and suppliers, attend market, identify new opportunities, and stay closely connected to the product.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Build and lead a strong, high-accountability product development team that thrives in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.
- Set a high standard for speed, quality, ownership, and follow-through.
- Coach and develop team members, strengthen technical expertise, decision-making, and leadership capability.
- Create clarity around priorities, timelines, and expected outcomes, ensuring focus on the highest-impact opportunities.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration while maintaining high momentum and accountability.
- Lead with an entrepreneurial mindset — willing to challenge old ways, solve problems quickly, and build better processes as the business scales.
- Manage company resources responsibly with a disciplined approach to investment and return.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 12+ years of experience in furniture product development, with strong experience in both case goods and upholstery.
- Proven success building and developing high-performing teams.
- Deep knowledge of furniture construction, materials, finishes, comfort, engineering, and quality standards.
- Strong understanding of global sourcing, factory capabilities, raw materials, and supplier development.
- Excellent commercial instincts with a track record of developing product that is not only well designed but also sells.
- Experience balancing design, innovation, speed, cost, margin, and operational execution.
- Highly organized and decisive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and keep teams moving.
- Strong communicator who works effectively across functions, cultures, and international partnerships.
- Thrives in a hands-on environment where building, improving, and scaling are all part of the job.
What Success Looks Like
- Stronger and more differentiated furniture assortments
- Faster, more disciplined product development execution
- Improved product quality and higher sample approval rates
- Better alignment between design, sourcing, merchandising, and sales
- Product launches that drive growth, margin, and brand elevation
- A team and process built to scale with the business

Focus on roles tied to distribution and wholesale operations
Surya Carpet's sponsorship activity is concentrated in operational and technical functions that support its supply chain. Target roles in logistics, product development, or merchandising where specialized skills are genuinely hard to source domestically.
Understand that H-1B is their primary sponsorship pathway
Surya Carpet sponsors H-1B visas, so confirm your target role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field before investing time in the application process.
Apply early in the calendar year to align with H-1B timelines
H-1B petitions must be filed by April for an October 1 start date. Reaching out to Surya Carpet's hiring team in January or February gives you the best chance of moving through the process before the filing deadline.
Highlight global sourcing or wholesale industry experience
Surya Carpet operates in a globally connected supply chain environment. Candidates with experience in international sourcing, vendor management, or import logistics are a natural fit and stand out in the sponsorship conversation.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm current sponsorship openings
Surya Carpet doesn't always advertise visa sponsorship explicitly in job postings. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and target only roles where international candidates are genuinely considered.
Be direct about your visa status when you reach out
With a smaller sponsorship footprint, Surya Carpet's hiring team needs to plan ahead for H-1B costs and timelines. Proactively addressing your status and timeline in a cover letter or early conversation prevents late-stage surprises.

Does Surya Carpet sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Surya Carpet sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent sponsorship track record, though it sponsors on a selective basis rather than at high volume. Sponsorship is most likely for specialized roles in areas like product development, supply chain, and technical operations where the company needs specific expertise it cannot easily source from the local labor market.
Which roles at Surya Carpet are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Surya Carpet tends to be concentrated in roles requiring specialized qualifications, particularly in distribution operations, product design, merchandising, and supply chain management. Positions that sit at the intersection of technical knowledge and the home furnishings or wholesale industry are the strongest candidates for H-1B sponsorship, as they are harder to fill without an international talent pool.
What is the typical timeline for an H-1B sponsorship process with Surya Carpet?
From offer to work authorization, the H-1B process typically takes several months. Your employer files a petition in April, and if selected in the lottery, your start date is October 1. That means the full cycle from offer to starting work can span six months or more. Reaching out to Surya Carpet's hiring team early in the year gives you the best chance of aligning with this timeline.
How do I find open jobs at Surya Carpet that include visa sponsorship?
Not all of Surya Carpet's job listings explicitly mention visa sponsorship, which makes it difficult to identify qualifying openings on general job boards. Migrate Mate tracks verified H-1B sponsors and lets you filter job listings by sponsorship history, so you can browse current Surya Carpet openings and confirm they are realistic opportunities for international candidates before applying.
Does Surya Carpet sponsor Green Cards for international employees?
Based on available sponsorship data, Surya Carpet's immigration activity is focused on H-1B visas rather than Green Card sponsorship. Permanent residency sponsorship is less common at companies with a selective sponsorship footprint and often depends on individual tenure, role criticality, and internal immigration policy. It is worth raising this directly during the offer or onboarding stage if long-term U.S. residency is a priority for you.
