Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Mechanical Engineer Jobs at Teradyne Jobs
Align your portfolio to test equipment work
Teradyne's mechanical roles center on precision hardware for semiconductor test systems, not consumer products. Highlight experience with thermal management, electromechanical assemblies, or tolerance-critical enclosures before applying so your background reads as directly relevant.
Confirm OPT or CPT eligibility before interviewing
If you're on an F-1 visa, verify your OPT authorization timeline before your first interview. Teradyne hires through both CPT and OPT, but delays in USCIS EAD approval can complicate start dates, so factor in the processing window when you're negotiating.
Target roles tied to product platforms, not just headcount
Teradyne's sponsorship activity for Mechanical Engineers tracks closely to specific hardware product lines like Semiconductor Test and Robotics. Applying to openings that name a specific system or platform signals you understand the work and increases your odds of clearing initial screening.
Prepare your credentials for PERM documentation early
If your path leads toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through PERM, gather transcripts, degree evaluations, and prior employer letters now. DOL-compliant PERM filings require detailed education and experience records, and gaps surface at the worst moment.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Teradyne posts Mechanical Engineer openings across multiple locations with varying visa support. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where H-1B or TN sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not spending time on positions that won't support your visa category.
Understand the H-1B cap timing relative to your offer
If you need a new H-1B and aren't currently exempt, your employment can only begin October 1 following the April lottery. Discuss this timeline with your Teradyne recruiter early so the offer structure accounts for the gap between selection and your actual start date.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Teradyne JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Teradyne sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Teradyne sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers. The company has an established pattern of supporting international hires in engineering functions, including filing both initial H-1B petitions and extensions. If you're subject to the annual cap, coordinate your start date with the October 1 effective date, since Teradyne will need to structure your offer around that window.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Teradyne?
Applications go through Teradyne's careers portal, where roles are listed by product division and location. You can also browse open Mechanical Engineer positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only the roles where sponsorship is supported. Tailor your resume to Teradyne's hardware focus, specifically test systems, robotics, or semiconductor equipment, before submitting.
Which visa types does Teradyne support for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Teradyne sponsors multiple visa types for Mechanical Engineers, including H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for students. For permanent residence, the company supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification. The specific visa path depends on your nationality, education level, and career stage.
What qualifications does Teradyne expect for sponsored Mechanical Engineer roles?
Most Mechanical Engineer openings at Teradyne require a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Roles tied to semiconductor test hardware often expect familiarity with precision manufacturing tolerances, CAD tools, and electromechanical integration. Senior positions may require a master's degree or prior experience in automated test equipment, which also strengthens EB-2 eligibility if you pursue a Green Card later.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Teradyne?
Timeline depends on visa type. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day. H-1B standard processing at USCIS runs three to five months, while premium processing guarantees a decision within 15 business days. PERM-based Green Card cases through DOL typically take one to two years before the I-140 petition stage, so starting that process early in your tenure matters.
