Align your degree to hardware validation work
Teradyne's Project Engineer roles typically require a degree in electrical, computer, or systems engineering. Confirm your transcript reflects coursework in test systems, embedded hardware, or signal integrity so your LCA specialty occupation classification is defensible from day one.
Target roles in semiconductor test divisions
Teradyne's Semiconductor Test and Industrial Automation segments file the most engineer sponsorships. Prioritize open positions under those business units, where hiring managers have direct experience guiding international candidates through the H-1B or TN process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Project Engineer roles
Teradyne posts Project Engineer positions across multiple sites and divisions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for open roles that align with your visa type, so you're not applying blind to positions the team isn't prepared to sponsor.
Prepare hardware portfolio evidence before interviews
Teradyne evaluates candidates on hands-on test system experience, not just credentials. Bring documented examples of ATE, PCB validation, or functional test work. This strengthens your specialty occupation case if USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a degree-level engineer.
Verify your OPT end date against Teradyne's hiring cycle
Teradyne's Project Engineer onboarding timelines can run several weeks. If your F-1 OPT expires within 90 days of an expected start date, flag it to the recruiter so HR can initiate the USCIS H-1B cap filing or OPT extension paperwork without a gap in work authorization.

Find Project Engineer at Teradyne JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Teradyne sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Teradyne sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineers. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS cap process, with registrations submitted in March for an October 1 start date. Project Engineer roles qualify as specialty occupations under the H-1B because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline. If you're on F-1 OPT, Teradyne can bridge your status while a cap-subject petition is pending.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Teradyne?
Apply directly through Teradyne's careers page, filtering by engineering or hardware roles. Before applying, review the job description carefully to match your background in test systems, embedded hardware, or electronics validation against the listed requirements. Migrate Mate also lists open Project Engineer positions at Teradyne, letting you filter by visa type so you can identify roles aligned with your work authorization situation before submitting.
Which visa types does Teradyne commonly use for Project Engineer roles?
Teradyne sponsors Project Engineers on H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories), and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, the company also supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM labor certification, which is common for engineers in permanent hardware or systems roles who have demonstrated performance over time.
What qualifications does Teradyne expect for Project Engineer roles?
Teradyne's Project Engineer positions typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or systems engineering. Practical experience with automated test equipment, PCB validation, or functional test systems strengthens your application considerably. Roles in the Semiconductor Test division often expect familiarity with ATE platforms, while Industrial Automation openings may weight experience with robotics hardware or motion control. Graduate degrees can help with USCIS specialty occupation documentation if your undergraduate field is adjacent.
How do I time the H-1B filing process when joining Teradyne?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registrations in March each year, with the earliest possible start date of October 1. If Teradyne extends an offer outside that window, you'll either need valid OPT to cover the gap or the company must wait for the next cap season. Discuss timing explicitly during offer negotiations and ask HR whether premium processing is available, which reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days and gives you earlier certainty on approval.
