The Company
Tutor Intelligence is building the technology and processes to let robots go where they’ve never gone before: the average American factory and warehouse. We understand that general-purpose and generally intelligent robots are going to be built in our lifetimes, and we’re not content to sit on the sidelines.
Founded by MIT alumni and backed with over $40M in funding by leading investors in AI and robotics, Tutor combines human and artificial intelligence to build something greater than the sum of its parts — a Tutor Intelligence. As an AI software company that deploys its inventions directly into the facilities that need them, every line of code, process change, and decision at Tutor has a direct impact on the physical economy.
We’re seeking an ambitious People Operations Manager who wants to shape the foundation of a startup building the future of manual work.
We believe something special happens when talented, motivated people work together with respect and low ego. At Tutor, every team member is empowered to have real impact and is trusted to take ownership of meaningful problems. We value technical excellence, intellectual honesty, collaboration, and thoughtful urgency.
The Role
As People Operations Manager, you will serve as the operational backbone of the People team. You'll own the systems, processes, and infrastructure that make the employee experience work — recruiting coordination, HRIS, compliance, metrics, and people experience — independently and with minimal oversight, in a true ownership role at a 90-person startup.
Your Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruiting operations, including interview scheduling, candidate communications, job postings, and ATS management.
- Manage employee lifecycle processes such as onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
- Administer and optimize the HRIS (Rippling), ensuring accurate employee data and efficient workflows.
- Support benefits, payroll coordination, and external partner relationships (e.g., PEO, vendors).
- Build and maintain people data dashboards and reports covering recruiting, headcount, and retention metrics.
- Ensure HR compliance through documentation management, policy updates, and monitoring regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions and maintain internal HR documentation and resources.
- Support onboarding programs, culture initiatives, and company-wide people programs.
Who You Are
- 3–5 years of experience in a people operations, HR, or talent operations role
- A true independent operator who owns their work completely, builds their own processes, and doesn't need to be chased
- Comfortable with data — can pull, organize, and present people metrics clearly
- Strong working knowledge of an HRIS platform — Rippling experience a strong plus
- Familiar with PEO relationships and how to maximize them
- Solid understanding of basic employment compliance — knows what they know and knows when to escalate
- Detail-oriented with strong execution instincts across multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Mature judgment, especially in sensitive HR and employee relations contexts
- Strong communicator with candidates, employees, and cross-functional partners
- Comfortable building and maintaining systems, documentation, and knowledge bases from scratch
- Startup or high-growth environment experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- Fully employer-covered health and dental insurance
- 401(k)
- Unlimited PTO
- Regular in-office meals and team events
- A collaborative, low-ego environment where people are trusted to do their best work
Tutor Intelligence is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Tutor Intelligence Visa Sponsorship USA
Lead with your technical or subject-matter expertise
Tutor Intelligence operates in consulting and professional services, where specialized knowledge drives hiring decisions. Frame your application around the specific domain expertise you bring, generalist profiles are less likely to clear the bar for visa sponsorship consideration.
Understand that H-1B sponsorship requires employer commitment
Tutor Intelligence has sponsored H-1B visas, so the pathway exists, but it requires the employer to initiate the process. Come prepared to explain your visa timeline clearly so hiring managers can assess feasibility without confusion.
Target roles that align with TN visa eligible occupations
Canadian and Mexican nationals should check whether their target role at Tutor Intelligence qualifies under TN categories. Consulting and analytical roles in this sector often align well with TN-eligible occupations, making it a faster path than H-1B for eligible candidates.
Look for roles where your visa type is already supported
Tutor Intelligence sponsors multiple visa types, so matching your current status to roles where that visa is established improves your odds significantly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history before applying.
Prepare for a technical and culture-fit focused interview process
Consulting and professional services firms typically evaluate both technical depth and client-facing communication skills. At Tutor Intelligence, demonstrating you can operate independently and deliver results matters as much as credentials when sponsorship is part of the conversation.

Does Tutor Intelligence sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Tutor Intelligence has sponsored H-1B visas. Candidates in specialty occupation roles are the most likely to be considered for H-1B sponsorship.
Which visa types does Tutor Intelligence sponsor?
Tutor Intelligence sponsors a range of visa types including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1. What types of roles at Tutor Intelligence are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Roles requiring specialized technical or analytical expertise in the consulting and professional services space are the most common candidates for sponsorship at Tutor Intelligence. Positions that demand a specific degree in a defined field tend to qualify most cleanly for H-1B sponsorship, while broader OPT and CPT sponsorship may extend to a wider set of entry-level and internship roles.

How do I approach the application process at Tutor Intelligence as a visa-requiring candidate?
Be transparent about your visa status and timeline from the first stage of the process. Tutor Intelligence sponsors multiple visa types, so the conversation is not unusual, but hiring managers need lead time to coordinate with legal and HR.
