How to Get Visa Sponsorship in University of Southern Indiana Visa Sponsorship USA
Target faculty and research roles first
USI's sponsorship activity is concentrated in academic and research positions. Focus your search on faculty openings, postdoctoral appointments, and specialized research roles, where universities are most accustomed to initiating H-1B and Green Card petitions.
Understand the academic hiring calendar
Higher education hiring follows a predictable cycle. Faculty searches typically open in fall for positions starting the following academic year. Aligning your application timeline with USI's recruitment calendar gives you the best shot at sponsored roles.
Highlight qualifications that align with specialty occupation requirements
For H-1B sponsorship, USI must demonstrate the role requires a specialized degree. Emphasize the direct connection between your academic credentials and the specific position in your application materials to make that case straightforward for HR and legal teams.
Use a platform that surfaces verified sponsorship history
Not all university job postings mention sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize USI openings where international candidates have a genuine shot.

Does University of Southern Indiana sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, University of Southern Indiana sponsors H-1B visas. USI has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions, primarily for faculty, researchers, and specialized professional staff. If you're applying for a role that requires a degree in a specific field, USI's HR and legal teams are experienced with the H-1B process and what's required to support a petition.
Which visa types does University of Southern Indiana sponsor?
USI sponsors H-1B and TN visas for nonimmigrant work authorization, as well as EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for permanent residency. The university also supports F-1 OPT and CPT, making it an option for international students completing degrees in the U.S. The mix of visa types reflects a broad willingness to support international talent across different career stages.
Which departments or roles at University of Southern Indiana are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Academic departments hiring tenure-track or visiting faculty are the most common source of sponsored roles at USI, along with research centers and specialized administrative positions that require advanced degrees. Roles in STEM fields, health sciences, and business tend to align well with specialty occupation criteria. Positions that require any bachelor's degree regardless of field are less likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for a sponsored position at University of Southern Indiana?
Start by identifying open roles that match your degree and field through USI's official careers portal. When you reach the offer stage, ask HR directly whether the position is eligible for visa sponsorship before signing. Universities typically work with an immigration attorney to file petitions, so the earlier you raise sponsorship in the process, the smoother the timeline. Migrate Mate can help you find USI openings already flagged as sponsorship-eligible.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by a university like USI?
The strongest candidates frame their credentials in terms of the specialty occupation standard: your degree must directly relate to the duties of the specific role. For faculty positions, a completed doctorate and a research or teaching portfolio that matches the department's needs are essential. TN visa applicants from Canada or Mexico should confirm their profession appears on the qualifying occupation list before applying.
